Warner B. Connolly

1925 - 2016

HILLSDALE - Warner Burton Connolly, 90, of Hillsdale, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at Drews Village Green Assisted Living in Hillsdale. He was born July 20, 1925 in Wolcottville, Indiana to Guy and Eloda (Echard) Connolly Sr. Warner married Margaret Burgess on October 26, 1947 and she preceded him in death in 1995. He later married Shirley Sharp-Carter on October 19, 1996 and she survives.

Warner graduated from Pittsford High School in 1944 and he served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He was the former owner and operator of Hillsdale Recreation Bowling Alley and he also worked for the Hillsdale Post Office. Warner was a member of Hillsdale United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge, Hillsdale American Legion and the Eastern Star. He enjoyed collecting antique cars and playing cards, especially euchre.

In addition to his wife, Shirley, Warner is survived by three children, Rex (Cindy) Connolly of Jonesville, Tom (Cindy) Connolly of Jonesville and Patricia (Dan) Lambright of Hillsdale; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marjorie Carlisle of Florida and Phyllis Land of Washington; three step-children and numerous step-grandchildren.

Warner was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret; daughter, Cherrie Rehkoph; brother, Guy Connolly Jr. and a step-daughter.

Funeral services for Warner Connolly will be Friday, March 11, 2016 at 3 p.m. at VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale with Pastor Pat Brook officiating. Private interment will take place at Cambria Cemetery #2. The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday from 1 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
