Beverly Waite Obituary

Beverly Landgren Waite, beloved eternal sweetheart of Dr. Willis D. Waite for 64½ years and the precious mother of Randall W. of Springville, Utah, Willis (Bill) D. II (Clea) of Gilbert, Ariz., Thomas D. (Gina) of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and James A. (Beth) of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away at her home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, on Nov. 18, 2011, at the age of 87.
She is also survived by a brother, John D. (Janey) Landgren of Rockford, Ill.; another brother and sister-in-law, Kay Waite (Connie) of Farr West, Utah; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was born to Arthur and Bertha Landgren in Duluth, Minn., on March 23, 1924, but lived most of her life in Rockford, Ill. She majored in music at BYU and studied at the University of Illinois and Rock Valley College.
Her life centered around her family and being a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served five full-time missions with her husband when he presided over the Paris, France; Ivory Coast, Africa; Lausanne, Switzerland; and Metz, France, missions. For 25 years she served as an ordinance worker along with her husband in the Swiss, Chicago and Jordan River LDS temples.
She was an avid tennis player, having been Rockford, Ill., tennis champion for three consecutive years. She, her husband and sons played lots of tennis together. She was the champion ping-pong player on the S.S. America luxury liner going to her first mission to France.
As a genealogist she did many thousands of names for her Swedish ancestry.
Her talent as a pianist and beautiful singing voice enhanced the life of many. She served as choir leader several times and as a president of the Relief Society, Young Women, and early-morning Seminary teacher. While in the Ivory Coast she taught 20 Ivorians to play the piano and featured them in a recital. She served as pianist for the Joy Singers, a women's choral group from the Jordan River LDS Temple. She was beloved by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
There will be a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28, at the West Jordan Stake Center at 2700 West and 7000 South. Funeral services will be held at noon Tuesday, Nov. 29, at the church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services Tuesday at the church. Interment will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, in the Hyde Park, Utah, Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Perpetual Education Fund.

Cher President Famille Waite,

I am sorry for the loss of your dear sweet wife and mother. She was a lovely lady! I very well remember the both of you coming to visit our little branch in Saint Nazaire and singing together the song "In the garden". You were such a charming couple ~ full of joy and enthusiasm, always positive, very personable and a great example to everyone of what true love is all about... Thank You for all these wonderful memories and your great testimony of the gospel.
We are fortunate to know that this step is only momentary, and that we will be with each together again for all eternity. May God be with you and your family as you go through this difficult time. Sincerely,
Marie-Lise Magre Ferguson

Sister Waite was the most wonderful person. I was one of her missionaries in Paris. Each of us loved her and wanted to marry someone just like her. The purity of her heart and her joy at life radiated in her countenance. She will be missed, but never forgotten.

November 28, 2011

I am saddened by Sister Waite's passing but am buoyed by wonderful memories of the times I spent in your home, at church, and especially around the piano. I loved singing under her tutelage and for several of us as young men, she provided many great musical opportunities and experiences. I still remember many of the songs we practiced and performed. My heart goes out to you, President Waite as well as to Randy, Bill, Tom and Jim. May the Lord comfort you with the wonderful memories of a life well lived. John G. Bell

Mon Cher President Waite et famille de Soeur Waite

I give my love to all of you. President Waite, you were both wonderful mission parents and leaders by example in callings and marriage. To know that you have your sweet heart forever does continue to inspire me to live as I should. Soeur Waite does have the smile of an angel and I really did admire the meekness and love she had, while I was around her in the mission field. My thoughts are with you all, during this sacred time. Beverly Landgren Waite was the most perfect woman I have ever known! She was my Sweetheart for 64 and a half years. I am so grateful for my testimony that she lives through the Atoning Sacrifice of our Precious Savior and Dear Redeemer Jesus Christ.
It is hard to say AU REVOIR for a while. I will look forward to taking her into my arms when my schooling here on earth is complete. I express my love and thanks to my dear family and friends.
