Blaine Carver Obituary

Blaine Dell Carver, 82, of Grace, Idaho, passed away Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at the Caribou Medical Center in Soda Springs. Blaine was born August 3, 1942, the son of Thomas O'Dell and Harriett Ruby Holden Carver in Sandy, Utah.

He lived in Preston until 1953, then moved to Grace, where he attended the Grace school system and would eventually live out the rest of his life.

Blaine married the love of his life, Leota Katherine Potter, on September 26, 1962, in Grace, Idaho. He worked for Glen Palmer at the Grace Cheese Factory, making cheese while also making butter at the Soda Springs Creamery. He then learned the carpentry business from his father-in-law, AD Potter, assisting in the construction of several residential homes in Lava Hot Springs. He once again returned to Grace to pursue a career as a diesel mechanic at Grace Equipment until his retirement.

Blaine was a good man who never had an unkind word to say about anyone. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and especially loved teaching his grandsons how to do both. He was a loving grandfather and spent over 30 years attending sporting events and dance competitions in loving support of them.

He is survived by his loving wife, Leota, one son, Troy (Cheryl) Carver of Preston, Idaho, and one daughter, Krista (Bob) Lewis of Smithfield, Utah. Two sisters, Laura Hansen of Grace, Idaho, and LaRue (Alan) Turner of Hyde Park, Utah. Eleven grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Blaine is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Nathan Carver, one brother-in-law, Ronald Hansen, one niece, and one nephew.

Services will be held on Friday, November 1, 2024, at noon at the Red Rose Funeral Home, 56 South State Street, Preston, Idaho, with a visitation from 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the service. For those not able to attend in person, there will be a live stream of the funeral service. You may access it at this link: Click Here. The interment will be at the Lava Hot Springs Cemetary.

As we reflect on Blaine's remarkable life, we are reminded of his unwavering love for his family, neighbors, and friends. The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Franson and the staff of Caribou Medical Center for their exceptional care and service.

We want you to know how much we are thinking about you today. We have been unable to make the video work. I must be doing something wrong. We hope your day is good for your travels and in Lava. Just wanted you to know we would be there if we could.
