Brandon Munk Obituary

Brandon Brent Munk, 34, from Amalga, Utah, died Sunday, May 12, on Mother's Day. He was welcomed to the other side by his Grandma Munk and his Grandpa Hall. He was born June 30, 1978, in Ogden, Utah.
Brandon was fun-loving, very bright, and could make friends with anyone and everyone, no matter what age. He loved to do magic tricks and was self-taught. He enjoyed performing for children's parties and anywhere else he could. He especially loved doing mentalism tricks. He dreamed of becoming famous in this field. He was featured in the Idaho State Journal about his magic talent. He loved turning carrot peels into live gold fish. He won a talent show in his youth and was then able to be in the pre-show of the Ringling Brothers Circus when it was performing in Salt Lake City.
He played the saxophone in the Sky View High School pep band and was also on the Sky View track team. He loved history and could tell everything about the Civil War and World War II. He had a great talent for selling cars and could "sell ice cubes to the Eskimos" as his brother said. Brandon graduated from East High School in Provo, Utah, where he performed some of his magic tricks at the graduation ceremony. Brandon was an Eagle Scout at age 15. Brandon was interested in the U.S. space program and he attended Space Camp in Huntsville, Ala., in his youth.
Brandon had a very distinctive walk and he walked for miles to try to deal with the challenges of his life. His family would often hear "We saw Brandon walking along the side of the road. We could tell it was him by his walk." He had many setbacks through the years, but he was our hero because he would pick himself up and start over again and again.
He married Tara Loveland of Idaho, but they were later divorced. They had one daughter.
Brandon is survived by his parents Brent and Debbie Munk of Amalga; brothers Cameron (Emily) and Trevor (Kiersten) of Benson; and his 8-year-old daughter, Ma Haela, the "light of his life" of North Logan. His grandparents are Robert and Jeannine (deceased) Munk of Amalga and Eldon (deceased) and Florence Hall of River Heights. He has five nephews and one niece.
Funeral services will be held at noon Thursday, May 16, at the Amalga LDS Ward chapel 6575 N. 2400 West in Amalga. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center St. in Logan, and 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to services at the church.

Seems life is going to fast. I've known Brandon since Middle school and enjoyed his magic card tricks. I played with him in the band in high school, ran track with him and just had fun. I'll never forget riding down to a state basketball game in slc in his red t-top camaro. I enjoyed eating lunch with him while attending USU. I'm saddened to not speak to him again in this life. May God comfort you in your loss.

To the Munk Family. I have known Brandon ever since middle school. He was such a great and friendly guy. I got to see him more the past few years in and around Logan. Always smiling, always happy to see me, and always wearing his suit. He will truly be missed by many. May you be blessed and have God as comfort this sad week.
