Charles Niederhauser Obituary

Charles Niederhauser (von Niederhausern) was born September 20, 1924 in Logan Utah and died September 1, 2024 in Pleasant View Utah. He was 19 days from finishing his 100th year of life His parents were John (Johnnes) Niederhauser and Anna Marie Ruegsegger. Charles was the youngest of 9 children. His siblings were George Ludwig, Muthan, Edmund John, Lucy, Adella Myrtle, Elmer Joseph, Heber, and Mary.

He grew up on a small farm on south Main Street in Logan, Utah. He attended school at River Heights School and South Cache High School where he graduated in 1942.

Charles served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1944-1946. He was stationed in the Philippines and Japan. After the war he and his brother Elmer bought and worked a farm south of Logan. Then he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the North Central States Mission from 1950-1952.

Charles married Marva Louise Jenkins on May 8, 1953 in the Salt Lake Temple. Their wedding was performed by President David O Mckay. Together they had 7 children: Sylvia Ann (Kim Olson), Jay Charles(Peggy Wallace), LuIda (Courtney Lynn Sorenson), Alan Dee (Rebecca Willis), Nancy (Ricky Bodrero), David Chris (Ronda Baetz), and Charla Marie (Erick Johnston). Charles and Marva Lou proudly have 29 grandchildren, and 51 great-grandchildren with one more coming soon.

As the family grew, Charles felt that in order to support his family he needed to get a job in addition to farming. He started working at the Logan Post Office as a letter carrier in 1960. He retired from the Postal Service after 30 years. The family moved from the farm to Providence in September 1964 and lived there for over 50 years.

After retiring Charles and Marva Lou served 3 missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They served in Baton Rouge Louisiana, Anchorage Alaska, and Kirtland Ohio. People remember Charles as a loving family man, a good neighbor, an active church member and a friendly letter carrier!

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, his wife Marva Lou, his children Chris and Charla, one granddaughter Cassandra, and 3 of his children-in-law Erick, Rebecca and Ronda.
