Connie Orvin Obituary

Connie Jean Orvin, 80, of Smithfield, UT, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, April 19th, 2025. She was a devoted mother of 7, grandmother of 29, and great-grandmother of 17, and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Connie Jean Lindsay was born on October 24, 1944, to Harold and Pearl Lindsay in Coalville, UT, and spent her childhood in Kearns, Utah, where she lived two doors down from the love of her life, Jere. After Jere came home from serving a mission, they were married for time and all eternity on September 3, 1965, in the Salt Lake City temple and enjoyed nearly 60 years of marriage.

Connie was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a woman of quiet devotion. She served three missions alongside her husband for the church. After a mission in Omaha, Nebraska, where they served at the Winter Quarters Visitor's Center, Jere and Connie served missions at their local bishop's storehouse and Cannery, and finally at the Cinnamon Creek church camp. She enjoyed the opportunities these missions provided in making friends and offering unique experiences and service opportunities.

Jere and Connie started their family in the Salt Lake City area, where they welcomed 6 of their seven children before moving to Clarkston, Utah, to open the J&C Country Store. While in Clarkston, they had their youngest son, Cade, and enjoyed living there for six years before moving across the country to Conway, Arkansas. What was meant to be a two-year stay ended up being over 22 years. Although part of Connie's heart remained in her home state of Utah, she thoroughly enjoyed her years living in the South, where she made lasting friendships.

Connie was happiest with her whole family gathered, laughing and reminiscing around the kitchen island. She happily facilitated family gatherings and togetherness, acting as the glue for the family. She was diligent about checking in with her kids, living near and far, and relaying their joys and news to the rest of the family. She was acutely aware of a family member's absence and often became tearful when saying goodbye to visiting family.

In early 2020, Connie's diagnosis of Alzheimer's began its slow fade, robbing her of one memory and story at a time. Different personalities developed as her disease progressed, but throughout it all, Connie kept her kind, good-natured heart. Connie may now bask in the memories that a life well-lived brings, and her heart can rest easy knowing that she can be her family's guardian angel: praying, guiding, and nurturing her posterity from Heaven's view.

Connie is survived by her husband, Jere Eugene Orvin, her children Cory Orvin (Amy), Jackie Hansen (Kenny), Clint Orvin (Kara), Jana Jenkins (David), Casey Orvin (Tiffany), Cody Orvin (Robin), and Cade Orvin (Claire). She is preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Pearl Lindsay, and her beloved grandsons, Joshua Orvin and Dakota Clark.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 25, 2025, at the Smithfield LDS Church, located at 451 S. 250 E, Smithfield, UT. The family will be receiving guests for visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. before the service. Burial will follow in the Clarkston Cemetery.
