Back in 1968, Ms. Owens was my third grade teacher. I use to live one street over from her house. I use to visit her often until my family moved to the other side of town.
I remember being the teacher's pet in her class. I use to do all of the class room decorations for each holiday. My most profund memory of her was when she gave me a "Black is Beautiful" button that I kept for many years.
I hate that I never got a chance to say thank you. She had a big impact on my life when growing up.
