Elaine Roberts Obituary
Elaine Young Roberts, 70, passed away on September 25, 2025, in Nibley, Utah, after a very brief and hard-fought battle with cancer. Born on June 7, 1955, in Logan, Utah to Alfred and IlaBeth Young, she was the 2nd of 4 daughters, all growing up in River Heights. Elaine lived a life marked by creativity, resilience, and deep devotion to her family and work.
Elaine graduated from Sky View High School in 1973 and went on to study performing arts at Utah State University. She dreamed of becoming an opera singer-a dream that reflected her passion for music and the arts. Though her professional path led elsewhere, that artistic spirit remained a constant throughout her life. Elaine played many a song on her piano, singing along because she knew the words to every song.
Elaine dedicated many years of her career to Herff Jones Yearbooks as the Color
Stripping Supervisor. She took great pride in her work and was known for her strong leadership and unwavering commitment to excellence. Her time at Herff Jones was not only professionally fulfilling but also personally enriching; she formed many lifelong friendships during those years. Elaine was a take-charge kind of person who valued hard work, dedication, and self-reliance-qualities she modeled every day and passed on to each of her children.
A gifted seamstress and crocheter, Elaine poured love into every stitch she made. When her children were young, she sewed many of their clothes by hand-a labor of love that reflected both skill and care. One year for Christmas, she even took the time to hand sew clothes for a Barbie doll she knew Tracy was going to be receiving from Santa. As each grandchild entered the world, they were welcomed with a handmade afghan from their Grammy-treasured keepsakes that will continue to warm hearts for generations. Even when age and illness made it difficult for her hands to cooperate as they once had, Elaine kept her projects close by-always ready to pick up where she left off. Family was at the heart of Elaine's world, she took to time to help her children grow their talents and find things in the world to devote passion to.
Elaine is survived by her children: Bill (Sara)Hendricks, Tracy (Gordon) Owens, and David (Kacee) John. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Austin (Lydia) Hendricks, Cole Hendricks, Blaire Hendricks, Morgan (Damian) Griffin, Taylor (Jacob) Bosworth, Koalby Owens, Kelsey (Randy) Smith, Laine (Rhett) Haslam, Lauren Lessar, Sage John, and Michael John; and great-grandchildren: Beau Haslam, Abel Smith, Ezra Smith, Charlotte Smith, and Piper Bosworth, along with her fur babies Pepper, Little, and Mishy. Elaine is also survived by her sisters Marina (Jerry) Heidt and Lynne (Rich) Eckburg; brother-in-law Lynn Facer; stepmother Bonnie Young; and many extended family members who cherished her presence in their lives. She was preceded in death by her parents Alfred and IlaBeth Young and her sister Ann Facer.
In true Elaine fashion, she fought hard until the very end-a testament to the strength that defined her life. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her. The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to Intermountain Hospice for their kind and tender care of Elaine, especially Rohn Larsen, who could always bring a smile to her face and match her feisty personality.
Elaine would not want us to be sad for long. A celebration to honor her life will be held at the Trenton City park on October 11th from Noon to 2P.M. If you feel so inclined, consider a donation to the Cache Valley Humane Society in her honor.
