Elbert Harmon Obituary
Born May 25, 1925, in Taos, N.M., Elbert was the son of Augustin Harmon and Amada Trujillo. Because of life circumstances, he left school in the eighth grade to go to work to support his family. He joined the U.S. Army in November 1945 and served in Panama as a firefighter. After an honorable discharge he moved to Cokeville and it was there that he met his sweetheart, Quirina Rosa Duran (Rose). They were married in Paris, Idaho, on Dec. 24, 1952. Together they had nine children.
While in Cokeville, Elbert worked for Lincoln Feeders breaking horses. He then worked 34 years for the Diamond Ranch until retiring in 1989. When not working, he took his boys hunting and fishing. He loved horses and he loved the outdoors. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren. Elbert was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Elbert is survived by his wife, Quirina Rosa Duran; sister Grace Martinez of Taos, N.M.; brother, Augustin Harmon of Taos, N.M.; sister-in-law, Mary Iverson of Vernal, Utah; nine children, Amada Ann (Doug) Clayton of Green River, Wyo., Elbert Lee (Jodi) Harmon of Cokeville, Wyo., Lucille Nancy (Steve) Moore of Cokeville, Wyo., Robert (Julie) Harmon of Grover, Wyo., Sally Lynn (Dale) Hymas of Ovid, Idaho, Ronald (Claudia) Harmon of Petersboro, Utah, Susan (Mike) Odum of Liberty, Texas, Barbara Jean (Kelly) Bartschi of Georgetown, Idaho, and Wayne (Sivi) Harmon of Cokeville, Wyo.; 31 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to the nurses at Bear Lake Memorial Hospital for their sweet care of their father.
Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, April 28, 2012, in the Cokeville LDS chapel. Friends may call prior to services from 10 to 11:45 a.m. Interment will be in the Cokeville, Wyo., Cemetery.
