Keith Smith Obituary

Keith Arthur Smith passed away Monday, March 14, 2011, at his home of natural causes. He was born in Smithfield, Utah, to Louis James Smith and Louise Rasmussen on June 4, 1925. He married Elizabeth E. Maughan on April 23, 1945. This marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on Dec. 4, 1963. Keith served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1945, and was honorably discharged. He then worked at the Navy Depot eventually retiring from Hill Air Force Base in 1981 after 37 years. After retirement he worked for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Keith loved hunting, camping and enjoyed many trips to Alaska fishing with his family. He loved sports and gardening. He took great pride in growing the best tomatoes and peas. Keith was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many positions over the years. He dearly loved his family and enjoyed their calls and visits. Keith is survived by his children, Linda Jensen (Larry), of Logan, Joan Waggoner (Thomas), of Syracuse, Dale Smith (Tina), of Wellsville, Robert (deceased) Annette Smith, of Wellsville, and Gary Smith, of Clearfiel; 20 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Ida Fridal, of Tremonton, Clyde Smith (Ivy), of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Marjorie Anderson (Robert), of Richmond, and Ron Smith (Adriane) of Logan. Keith was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Elizabeth (Betty); his son, Robert (Bob); sister, Neola Anderson; and brothers, Leonard, Don and LaVon Smith. Keith especially enjoyed his friends at the Sizzler in Layton and his family would like to thank them for their kindness and friendship toward our father. Thanks to Dr. Warren Butler and his staff for their wonderful care of our father.Funeral services will be held Friday, March 18, 2011, at 11 a.m. at the Clearfield 9th Ward, 838 E. 600 South. Friends may visit family Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist's Clearfield Mortuary, 1050 S. State St. and Friday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment, Wellsville City Cemetery. Thanks for all the support and things you did for me grandpa. I'm going to miss you so much. I will never forget all the talks that we had especially when we were elk hunting. There are so many Great memories. Your already missed. I Love You Tons!!!
