Leon Hansen Obituary

Leon A. Hansen passed away peacefully Sept. 12, 2012, in Logan, Utah, from respiratory complications. Leon was born to Albin and Lyda Ecker Hansen on March 10, 1928, in Heber City, Utah. He married the love of his life, Betty Jean Miller, on Aug. 24, 1955. At the time of his passing, they had been married 57 years.
Leon served as a staff sergeant in the Army and graduated from the University of Utah with a master's degree in mineralogy. His greatest passion was his life's work as a hard rock geologist for mining companies and as a self-employed geologic consultant. He took great pride in his accomplishments in the mining field. He was a man of strong feelings and beliefs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Gale and son Erik. He is survived by his wife Betty; daughter Katrina Kirk (Lee); three grandsons, Daniel, Nathan and Alex; great-grandson Jayden; siblings Margaret Lucas, Doris Pritchett, Lynn Miller (Dorothy), Mike Miller and Linda Gee (Ron) as well as many nieces and nephews.
Leon was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend and he will be missed greatly by all of us.
Memorial Services will be held at noon Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, at the North Logan 5th Ward, 2750 N. 800 East in Logan, under the direction of Serenicare Funeral Home of Providence, Utah.
Special thanks to Dr. Rob Perkins and the staff of the Logan Regional Hospital ICU Unit for the care and kindness you provided to our family.

Cousin Leon, was loved greatly by the
Family of the Late-Ray M Miller, they
shared many minning interests together.
Leon, was one of the proud Men in my
Dad's Mothers family, he was so proud
of his accomplishments in the
fiel of
mining, and knowledge of the Utah
mines. I knew Cousin Leon, as a Leader
and very accomplished Person, I would talk to him , by phone thru the years,
I will miss our calls and the things he
taught me thru the years, about his
family. It's so very hard too loose
a Educator such as Leon as he, made
a big difference in our world.

Leon was my cousin, and my sisters and I loved him and his brother and his sisters. He was a peacemaker, and kind to all of us. We had such fun as kids when he and his family came to visit us on the Ekker ranch. He was highly educated and handled a lot of mining affairs for my parents. We love him and will miss him. I offer condolences to the family. I knew Leon from days when I was a geologist for United Park City Mines and he worked in the Park City district for The Anaconda Company. He was a good geologist and a mentor to me. May he rest in peace.
