Lorna Julander Obituary

Lorna Seamons Reeder Julander, 96, passed away Feb. 15, 2009, at Willow Glen Health and Rehabilitation Center in Brigham City, Utah, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
She was born in the family home in Hyde Park, Utah, on July 29, 1912, to James William and Lenora Ann Waite Seamons. She was the sixth of nine children. She graduated with honors from North Cache High School in 1930. She married Wendell Reeder, also of Hyde Park, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple on Sept. 7, 1932. They lived in Logan, Utah; Ames, Iowa; Kansas City, Mo.; and Dallas, Texas, until Wendell's death in 1960. Lorna then moved to Logan, Utah. She married Odell Julander in 1963. They lived in Provo, Mapleton and North Logan. Odell passed away in 1988.
Lorna was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She served in many different capacities, including in Relief Society and as a temple worker in the Logan LDS Temple. She worked for a time at Utah State University as a secretary in the engineering department. She belonged to the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, gardening, playing bridge and reading books. Her cooking was enjoyed by many in her home. She was a special lady, always gracious, always expressing her gratitude, and she kept her sense of humor during all her trials. She will truly be missed. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff and caregivers at Willow Glen for their care and comfort this past year.
Lorna was preceded in death by her parents; six siblings; both husbands; and a daughter-in-law, Nelda Ann Holmes Reeder.
She is survived by her children: W. Grant (Susie) Reeder of Jones, Okla.; Dr. Dennis J. (Bulbin) Reeder of Frisco, Texas; Carol Ann (John E.) Valberg of Brigham City, Utah; and Susan (Richard) Berryessa, Las Vegas, Nev. She has 18 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her stepchildren: Rod (Paula) Julander of Salt Lake City, Utah; Rhea (Robert) Sidwell of Nibley, Utah; Joyce (Gary) Larsson of Harrisville, Utah; and J. Brent (Loretta) Julander of Hooper, Utah. There are 24 step-grandchildren and 64 step-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her sister, Ann Shaw of Logan, Utah, and her brother, Myron I. Seamons of Carmichael, Calif.
Funeral services will be held at noon Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009, at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center St., Logan, Utah. Friends and family may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009, at the mortuary and from 11 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday. Interment will be in the Hyde Park Cemetery.
