Ross Lindhardt
12/7/1937 - 03/03/2017
Ross David Lindhardt, 79, passed away March 3, 2017, at the Franklin County Medical Center, in Preston, ID, from the results of a month-long bout with pneumonia. He was born Dec. 7, 1937, in Winder, ID, to Marion Joseph and Marie Emmett Lindhardt. He served in the Western States Mission and moved to Salt Lake City, where he worked at Hercules Powder Company on the Minuteman 2 missile and belonged to the Utah National Guard. He met Joan Brower in Salt Lake, and on a good Friday the 13th, September 1963, they were married in the Logan LDS Temple (a match made in heaven). They lived in Salt Lake City, Utah, and Mink Creek and Banida, Idaho.
He was an honest, hardworking dairy farmer who could look over the cows and land and know what needed to be done. He was a loving husband and father who had faith in his children. He loved and cared about people and loved to talk to everyone. He was always a man of his word. He liked to surprise people. He loved his cat Boots, trips, auctions, cars, motorcycles, snowmobiles, home teaching and the Utah Jazz. If any of the family or friends had a problem, he would come to the rescue and know exactly what to do. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved serving others in various callings in the church as bishop, bishop's counselor, teacher of the youth in Young Men and Sunday School. He will be missed by everyone who was lucky to be loved by him.
He is survived by his wife, Joan, Preston, ID; five sons and one daughter, Daniel (Teresa) Smithfield, UT; Judy (Donald) Liebes, Banida, ID; Peter (Lori), Logan, UT; Jeffery (Lynette), Herriman, UT; Roger (Jennifer) Farr West, UT; Bradley (Kasaundra) Banida, ID; 28 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Sherman, Logan, UT; one sister, Carol Carter, Preston, ID.
Waiting to greet him on the other side were his parents; two brothers, Robert Emmett Lindhardt and Larry Joseph Lindhardt Emmett; one sister, Joyce Marie Cook.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 11, 2017, at noon at the Winder Ward Church, north of Preston, ID, with Bishop Lynn Price conducting. A viewing will be held Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Webb Funeral Home, 1005 S. 800 East, in Preston, and Saturday from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Preston Cemetery.
