Scott Lyman Obituary

Scott Madsen Lyman joined his son and brothers in heaven on March 12, 2013.
He was born April 4, 1962, to Barbara Crowley and Dennis Lyman. He spent most of his life in Wyoming and later moved to Utah to watch his beloved son advance in sports. Here he became an active member in the community impacting many lives through his work in the LDS Church, Sky View High School memorials and his dental practice.
He was a dentist by trade and a mechanic, farmer and motor enthusiast by spirit. He enjoyed frequent dirt biking trips to Moab in the summer with friends and family. Amongst many selfless acts, giving was his nature and he was commonly known for spending early mornings in his tractor plowing out neighbors in the winter.
Fatherhood was the greatest joy in his life and he never missed a moment to embrace each day with his children. He doted on his two grandchildren and longed for their mobility so they could join him on the go.
He will be dearly missed by his two daughters, Tiffany Jenkins and Kristy Miller; wife Jennifer Lyman; mother Barbara Crowley; father Dennis Lyman; sister Shelly Jilson; and brother David Lyman. He is preceded in death by his oldest brother, Steven Lyman; youngest brother, Matthew Lyman; and son Benjamin Lyman.
"I must be traveling on now, cause there's too many places I've got to see, cause I'm as free as a bird now." - Lynyrd Skynyrd, Free Bird

Our hearts are broken to learn of Scott's death. We were friends and patients of his in Dubois, WY and came to love Kristy, Tiff and Ben. It was such a joy to see a father's love for his children reflected in his eyes and his words. He adored them. We were blessed to know him during a difficult time in our lives and he went out of his way to help us and encourage us. We will never forget him or stop being grateful for his generosity, professionalism and genuine concern for his fellow man. We send our heartfelt condolences to Tiffany and Kristy.

I spent much of this past summer shadowing Scott in his office in Smithfield. He always had a smile on his face and kindness in his heart. He truly cared about the patients he treated. Not only them, but he cared about the community around him and was constantly reaching out to those around him. He was a great example to me and helped me more than words can say in my journey to become a dentist. I'll never get a chance to properly thank him.
