Evelyn Vandermeer Obituary
Evelyn was born February 6, 1933, to John and Grace (Zuidema) Bronkema. She married Allan Vandermeer and they raised their five children in Holland. They were members of Holland Heights Christian Reformed Church where Evelyn was a charter member. Evelyn worked at Russ' restaurants for 28 years. In 2001, she was preceded in death by her husband Allan.
Evelyn is survived by her children: Judy (Don) De Visser, David (Bonnie) Vandermeer, Keith (Ruth) Vandermeer, Karen (Gary) Ortman, Mary (Scot) VanDerMeulen; grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Julie De Visser, Scott and Lori De Visser(Isaac, Levi), Mike and Sarah De Visser(Max, Emma), Jennifer and Cameron Worley(Zach, Julia, Kayla), Malissa and Cody Bennett(Elaina, William), Megan Vandermeer, Liz Vandermeer, Rachel Vandermeer, Mark Ortman(Adam, Daniel), Doug and Terri Ortman(Brooke, Alexis), Katelyn and Joel Meyers(Hjarsti, Quinlyn), Lisa and Mark Tanis(Aria, Lana); siblings: Don and Pat Bronkema, LaVerne and Joanne Bronkema, Dale and Shar Bronkema; sister-in-law Thelma and Hugo Staal, many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, December 18, 2020, at Holland Heights CRC, 836 E. 8th Street, Holland MI 49423. It will also be live-streamed from Holland Heights CRC at:

Visitation will be 10:00-10:45 am prior to the funeral service at church. Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Holland Christian Schools or Resthaven.

I have so many wonderful memories of Evie, working with her at Russ’ for years, And then wonderful coffee times together. We shared so many good times together. A wonderful friend. But I know the best is yet to be.

My deepest sympathy to the family. She was a wonder wife and mother. And a precious friend for many, many years. Was so sorry I could not go and visit her this summer when I was home. This virus was hard to live with, and the rules were so hard. I thought of her so often, and I have so many wonderful memories of such good times together. I always admired her sweet kind spirit, kindness to everyone. WE had coffee or lunch together once a month for so many years with Lu Riemersma and Ruth Compagner, and Evie and me. So many good times together.
