Jay Janssen Obituary

M. Jay Janssen, age 95 of Zeeland passed away Tuesday, November 10, 2015.
Jay was born on May 22, 1920 in Zeeland to Johannes and Lena Berghorst Janssen. He owned and operated Janssen Farms and was active in the poultry industry. Jay was a longtime member of Second Reformed Church. He was a former President of the Zeeland Public School Board of Education.
Jay was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Hazel M. (Kaslander) in 1993; his parents, Johannes and Lena; 5 brothers and 3 sisters.
He is survived by his children, John and Sally Janssen, Micki Janssen, Jim and Mary Janssen, Charley and LeaAnne Janssen and Dave and Barb Janssen; 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; brother, B. Virgil Janssen.
The family expresses deep appreciation and gratitude for the incredible care, love and support of all of the caregivers at Resthaven Home Care and Boersma Cottage of Resthaven. Thank you Resthaven Care Community.
Visitation will be 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, November 12, 2015 at Second Reformed Church, 225 East Central Avenue, Zeeland, MI 49464. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, November 13, 2015 also at the church. The Reverends Karsten Voskuil and Diane Wyngarden Mugg will officiate. Interment will be in Zeeland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Resthaven Care Community. www.yntemafh.com
