Wesley Arthur-John Obituary
Wesley Arthur-John age 57 of Brighton, passed away Monday, May 29, 2017 after a long 10-year battle with scleroderma. He was born in Detroit, MI on July 10, 1959 to Peter and Annette (McCallum) Benedict. On September 24, 1988, he was married to his wife, Luanne Pohl in Mt. Pleasant, MI. Wesley has been a Brighton resident since 1995 where he took great pride in his yard and loved all his animals. He was an extremely generous person and had a deep passion for U of M football and his Detroit Red Wings. Wesley truly enjoyed his career of 29 years as a golf equipment independent sales representative where he had the opportunity to meet new people and liked a good conversation. He is survived by his wife Luanne; sons: Alex and Yale; parents: Peter and Annette; brother Dennis, many nieces and nephews and his pets. A memorial service will be held at the Brighton Nazarene Church on Saturday, June 3, 2017 beginning at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Ben Walls officiating. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 12:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Scleroderma Foundation Michigan Chapter or the Michigan Humane Society. Wes is a neighbor of mine, who not only loves his pets but loves all pets. Our black cat, Stanley, is a lover of all things moving...especially cars. One day, Wes called me over to share this funny story. He was on his way downtown one day when he heard the weirdest noise. At first, he wasn't sure what he was hearing, but then quickly came to realize it was coming from inside his vehicle. In no time at all, he looked up to see Stanley in his rear view mirror just meandering around the car! LOL! Wes thought it was hilarious, despite the fact that he had to turn around and come all the way back home to "drop off" his neighbor's overly friendly cat. His face lit up when he was telling me the story, which made me so grateful to have a neighbor that could see the humor in this innocent little act! He would even leave food out on his porch so my cats would have a treat when they were outside. If he saw Stanley and called his name, Stanley would literally start to gallop across the yard to run to him. I was actually starting to think I had been replaced as my cat's alpha male!! I am saddened to think that our last conversation was truly our last conversation. God Bless you Wes and all of your family. May He watch over your family as they try to move forward during this difficult time.
