Love you and miss you Daddy!

Since I didn't get a chance to say these words at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church at my father's funeral, this is what I had to say: I am from the union of Rev. Edward and Mrs Elnora Etheridge. In 1987, when I left La. and moved to Ca., I didn't realize what a big difference it would be compared to the quiet and safe Houma(at that time). And one day when my Daddy called me, back then, he said, "What are you going to do, stay out there until something happens? And yes, something did happen. I began to love my Daddy all over again, because I knew that he loved me. And later on, I became a Grandmother. So, I know what it is like to become a worrying Parent/Grandparent. And, it was after all our conversations, my Daddy and I became very close, even though we were miles apart. We could talk about anything and everything. And we would tell each "I love you." So I'm saying all that to say this, keep your families close; check on each other, especially the elderly, sick , and shut-in. In closing, as my Daddy would say, "Take care of yourself."
