Susan,
I don't know if you remember me. I used to live in your mom's neighborhood a long time ago. After I moved out of the neighborhood and into my own place, whenever I would visit my dad and also walk around the neighborhood for fresh air and exercise, I would see your mom outside tending to and working in her garden. I would make it a point to stop and talk with your mom. Miss Kathryn was such a wonderful listener and she would give me such great advice. We're all going to miss her. Susan, you and your family are in my thoughts and in my prayers. My heartfelt condolences.

Dear Michael, Mary, and Susan,

I am so saddened to hear of your mother's passing. She was a beautiful woman and an outstanding mother. I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to know her. Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul rest in peace.

God bless all of you,

Dear "Brother", Val, Billy, Martha, Robert, Eddie, Mary, Michael, and Susan. I still cannot believe that my oldest and dearest friend since 1946 (68 years) is gone and has left me behind. Even though I saw for myself, I am still having trouble realizing that we will not be able to call each other and giggle and laugh at so many things. And then we had our serious conversations. It was wonderful seeing my "Schriever family" at the funeral but sad that it was under those circumstances. Please keep me in your gatherings every now and then. Much love to all. Carol Jean

An Excerpt from –“Mothers Are Heaven's Scent”

The Daylily gets its name from the fact that although the plants themselves bloom for weeks, each blossom lasts only one day. We are reminded of the Mother who lives each day to the fullest as if it were her last as a precious gift from God. She finds joy and creates beauty in the present moment rather than regretting the past or fearing what the future may bring. She says with the Psalmist...
This is the day
which the Lord has
made. I will rejoice
and be glad in it.

My prayers are with you all during this time of sorrow.

TO THE LOFLIN FAMILY
We would like to express our deepest sympathy to Mary, Susan, Michael and all their family friends and relatives at this time of bereavement. Our short time in knowing Katherine gave Jane and I a deep sense of a caring, loving mother. Now that we have her son as part of our family we will always treasure one of her finest gifts. As well, her grandchildren and ours will always be a constant reminder of Katherine and her beautiful family legacy. To all the Loflins from the Kellys our deepest condolences. Our prayers and thoughts of how blessed we feel to have met Katherine and her family, will be with all of us in this time. God bless all of you. Ralph, Jane, and the Kelly family.

To the family we would like to express our sorrow for your loss. We lived across the street from your parents for many years. They were so kind/friendly to know. For hurricane Andrew they brought us coffee every morning while our power was off. Your mom sang at my mother's funeral. May God bless you with the memories.

I am so stunned to hear of Kathryn's passing. We were classmates and graduated from Terrebonne High School in 1958. She and Carol Jean were always together and I was pleased to see both of them for our last reunion. I considered her a very good friend and she will be very much missed.

I have known Kathryn for over 31 years! I have been inspired by her great faith, and her love for others. She was so full of love. I rarely remember her getting angry. But, even when she did get upset I always found her to be level headed. She was always supportive and encouraging to me. She told me recently that if God was calling her home she was not afraid. She told me she was ready. When I was called to pray I told the person who called me she was going home! She is home! In her I always can say I met Jesus! She indeed for many was the only Bible some people read, the only catechism some ever studied, the only mass they ever attended, the only eucharist they ever received, and the only Jesus they ever knew! She is praying for us all. The greatest tribute anyone can pay to her is to live out their faith to the fullest! The life she lived spoke powerfully the Lord she loved. She went home on the Feast of the Archangels: Michael, Gabriel, and Rapheal. She now sings with all the host of heaven!

I am so sorry to hear of Kathryn's death and am so grateful to have had the opportunity to speak with her briefly on the phone a few weeks ago while at Carol Jean's. I still remember growing up with the Bourgeois family, especially Christmas. They were our family as we had none in Louisiana.

Please accept my condolences to all of the Bourgeois and Loflin families.
