Lawrence Joseph Chaisson Sr.

Lawrence Joseph Chaisson Sr., 86, a native of Lockport and a resident of Napoleonville, passed away Sunday, Sept. 9, 2018 at home surrounded by his family.

Visitation will be held in his honor from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept 12 at Landry's Funeral Home in Napoleonville and from 10 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 12 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13 at St. Anne Church in Napoleonville. The burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Lawrence is survived by his wife of 64 years, Roselle Chaisson; his daughter, Cinda Morris and husband, Larry; three sons, Lawrence J. Chaisson Jr., Curtis Chaisson and wife, Denise, and Timothy Chaisson and wife, Kim; siblings Emile Chiasson, Mary June Jones, John J. Chiasson, Anatole (Buddy) Chiasson Jr. and James (Jimmy) Chiasson.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jody Morris, Crystal Chaisson Winters, Rosalyn Morris Morrison, Victoria Chaisson, Felicia Chaisson, Katherine Chaisson, Gabriella Chaisson and Kellie Chaisson; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous grand fur babies.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Anatole Chiasson Sr. and Jeanne Robichaux Chiasson; and siblings, Noah Chiasson, Ivy Chiasson, Marie Waguespack, Carol Chiasson and Elizabeth Bonvillian.

Lawrence was in the U.S. Marine Corps and served in the Korean War and was a Purple Heart recipient as well as numerous other commendation medals. He retired from Avondale Shipyard with 20 years of service.

Lawrence was an accomplished musician and was a member of the Thibodaux Playboy's band. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking.
