Ophelia Carter Obituary
Visitation will be from 2 to 4:30 p.m. today at Williams and Southall Funeral Home. Visitation will also be from 9 a.m. until funeral time Saturday at Pilgrim Baptist Church in Paincourtville. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery.
She is survived by one son, Walter Oneal Carter of Paincourtville; two daughters, Eartherla (Ivory) Batiste of Plattenville, and Laura Lea Carter of Paincourtville; three sisters, Irene (William) Parker and Elouise Sloan, all of Las Vegas, Nev., and Julia (Hasker) Morris of Paincourtville; one brother, Lionel Sr. (Valentina) Williams of Avondale; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Carter; parents, Simon and Ophelia Williams; two sisters, Hazel Johnson and Willana Skidmore; and five brothers, Willie, Simon Jr., Henry, Walter and Percy Williams.
Williams and Southall Funeral Home in Napoleonville is in charge of arrangements.
