Alan Hemberger was a VERY sincere & genuinely NICE man...Of the times friends & I were invited guests of KTRK 13 to watch LIVE in-studio newscasts, Alan was always one of the NICEST on-air personalities there. In fact, one time at the end of a newscast, he actually autographed a "script-sheet" given out at the beginning to follow as we watched. I still have it to this day...My sincere condolences to the Hemberger Family on the loss of a WONDERFUL man...Alan will be truly missed. Gerard Piccolo & Family (Houston, TX)

Dear Jane & family,
I worked in your home many years ago. I just wanted to say I'm so sorry for your loss. May the GRACE of God that you exhibited on a daily basis carry you during these dark days. Your sincere kindness and generosity showed me and I'm sure all those who know you what true LOVE looks like. I have to smile when I think of Alan because at Christmas time if he was home there was always fresh ground coffee brewing which he always offered to share and Cheech & Chong's Christmas album playing all over the house. I hope that makes you smile cuz it did me and still does. My prayers continue to cover you and may the peace of God rule in your hearts.
Much Love and Condolences

I remember Mr Hemberger's broadcast while he was in Houston, he came across as such a nice guy.
I hope the family takes consolation in the honor their loved one deserves for being a member of the journalist community, along with serving our country. These are two of the most noble ways to serve America.

To Jane, the boys, and family:

My deepest condolences for your loss.

There was unbounded joy in what Alan envisioned on the Cape over his six short months there. Put simply, he was working on a bit of New England paradise - a gathering place, such as one he knew as a boy - for all of his family and friends to enjoy and love, for many years to come. He was going nowhere. That's where he planted his last flag.

It would have been (as a Klingon warrior once said about an imminent challenge): glorious!

His legacy remains: as a husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, friend, colleague, and veteran.

The memories for all are rich. Kind of like paradise.

Jane, we are so sorry for your pain and the loss you are feeling right now. May His strength, grace and love shine through to comfort you and your children. In the days to come remember that you and the children are in our thoughts and prayers. Again we are so sorry for your loss. Al's friends Paul (Vietnam) and wife Velma

His legacy is how he led his life. I read the following on Alan's FB page and the sentiment is so beautiful I would like to share the words of Alan's friend.
He was one of my favorite people on the planet. I remember a very distinct conversation about the Vietnam war and Apollo 11. He was in Vietnam when we landed on the moon. He told me he remembered staring up at the moon when he heard the news. He was, at the time, knee deep in the muck walking through the jungle and he thought to himself, "How far we've come and how far we have to go." Alan had the soul of a lion and the heart of a poet.
