Albert Carl Obituary
07/17/1929 - 06/30/2025
Albert Clement Carl was born in Redding, PA on July 17, 1929 and died in hospice at his daughter's home in The Woodlands on June 30, 2025.
Al graduated from Georgia Tech with a degree in engineering and was a proud Marine - a fact he often mentioned at local restaurants when he would ask if there was a discount for veterans.
Al enjoyed a successful career with various oil companies, including Oasis, Fluor Ocean Services and Conoco. His work took him to Venezuela, Libya, Houston, Indonesia and Russia. He had a deep appreciation and love for the people and the cultures of each place he lived.
Al possessed an encyclopedic knowledge of historical events and places which he was very happy to share with others. He was quick with a joke or silly comment and even quicker to laugh at the humor of others. He was optimistic by nature, looking for the positive in every situation, even talking about getting healthier and stronger at the age of 95 when he was still going to the gym twice a week. In his later years Al found great joy in caring for others who were elderly and ill, providing them with kindness and companionship, even as his own health declined.
Al was married to Barbara Cleveland Carl for sixty years until she preceded him in death. Together they traveled the world and experienced many of the most beautiful places on earth. Al leaves three daughters who are grateful for a father who loved them, supported them and delighted in spending time with them and their children.
Al is survived by daughter and son-in-law Peggy and Rob Renfroe; daughter Pamela Carl, and daughter and son-in-law Patricia Carl and Doug Feick. Also, grandchildren Stephen and Ian Renfroe, Rebecca and husband Andrew Silberman, Carl Ebling, and great-grandchildren Drew and Beckett Silberman and Ryan Ebling. Al leaves one remaining sister, Joan Miller.
The family is especially grateful for all those who loved and cared for Al at The Forum. He enjoyed Bingo, Hymn Sing and Bible Study every week.
A Celebration of Life will be held at The Forum in The Woodlands, 2:00, November 2, 2025.
