Alexander Dunbar Obituary

Alexander Donald Dunbar
1980-2016
Alexander Donald Dunbar passed away at the age of 35 on August 7th, 2016. He is survived by his wife, Meghan and his baby son, Fox. Alex was a talented musician who played almost everything, with guitar being his favorite instrument. Alexander also enjoyed fishing, riding his motorcycle, flying, computer games, coding and mixing/recording music. More than anything, Alex was a student of life. He had a keen mind, loved science and would immerse himself in a subject that interested him until he mastered it. He will be missed each and every day by his loving parents, Don & Susan Dunbar as well as his sister, Sarah Rieger and her family. His friends and colleagues will no doubt miss his great wit and sense of adventure. We will celebrate Alexander's life with a sampling of his music, musings and stories in September and invite his friends, family and colleagues to share their personal anecdotes. Until then please hold your loved ones close and be gentle with each other.

My deepest sympathy to the loss of Alex. I am just finding out he has passed. I was constantly trying to catch up with him and though it was odd he wasn't responding. He was so inspirational to me when I lost my husband in 2015. His booming voice will be missed! Be Blessed Dunbar Family!!

I never dreamed that I would one day have the honour and extraordinary privilege of knowing and loving such a beautiful boy; a boy who did not conform to external definitions of who he was.

Forever and ever Alexander,

This is extremely hard to believe that such a talented young man, who was one of the brightest among his peers has disappeared from this world. Alex you will be forever missed. I want to thank you for being a part of my life growing up, introducing me to technology, sharing your music with me, and always being there for me when we were younger. I will always cherish our memories in high school, drivers ED, and college. My fondest memory of Alex was the Christmas Break of 1995. Alex had gotten War craft 2 and I was still waiting for mine to arrive Christmas. Instead of waiting, I found where my parents had hidden my gifts. I removed the game from the box and made sure it looked like it had never been open. As soon as I did this I told Alex I too had the game. We literally played War craft 2 every night. Each morning as soon as we finished playing we would ride our bikes and meet in the middle of Greatwood to debrief our game. I will never forget those moments. If it wasn't for Alex, I probably would have never known how to connect two PC's together through a 56k modem. Thank you Alex for sharing your love of computers with me. May your talents be passed onto Fox. I hope everyone will let Fox know how funny, smart and cool his dad was. May you rest in peace and if something is more than just the lights turning off. I hope we get to talk again....
My deepest sympathy goes out to Alex's parents, sister, and son. I want you to know that Alex was more than a friend. He was truly like a brother to me. I will always keep Alex in my heart.

What a sad day for me. Alex was a treasured coworker and the best of project managers with a dedication to excellence that affected all those around him. His personality and sense of humor could change your day. I enjoyed just sitting and talking with Alex and peeling the onion that was his innermost talent and love for life. My deepest condolences to Don, Meghan, Fox and the whole family. We all have lost a great friend, skilled coworker, talented musician, and a beautiful and colorful person. May God give us all peace knowing that he has taken Alex home.
