Venus Wheeler Obituary

Venus Merrill Wheeler

St. George

Venus Merrill Wheeler, 94, passed away August 7, 2012. She was born in Preston, Idaho April 29, 1918 to Leslie Vinton Merrill and Marie Miller Merrill, the second of seven children. Venus married James Herbert Wheeler in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on August 27, 1940.

Singing was always mother's love and she along with her two sisters, Carmen and Gwen, formed a trio that was well known throughout Cache Valley. Mom enjoyed serving missions with Dad at the Family History Library and guides at Local St. George historical sites, including the Brigham Young summer home, Temple, Tabernacle and the Jacob Hamblin home.

Venus was preceded in death by her husband, Herb who passed away June 11, 2012, and her daughters: Jo Ellen Wright (Ray) and Janet Evans (Craig). She is survived by her sister, Gwen Reading (Roland); brothers: Douglas (Oksun) and Reed; children: George (Bonnie), Robert (Cathie), Stephen (Terry), Mike (Annette), Peggy, Karen and David (Anna).

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. at the St. George LDS 8th Ward Chapel, 166 South Main Street, St. George, Utah. A visitation will be held Tuesday, prior to services, at 10:30 a.m. at the Chapel. Interment will be at the New Harmony Cemetery.
