André Boutté Obituary

André Boutté
11/07/1937 - 03/08/2023
André Louis Boutté
1937 - 2023
André Louis Boutté, 85, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 surrounded by his wife and sons. He was born November 7, 1937, in Shreveport, Louisiana to André Pierre Boutté and Mary Eugenia Roach Boutté. He attended C.E. Byrd High School and Louisiana Polytechnic Institute in Ruston, Louisiana. After his first year of college, he spent the summer in Venezuela with relatives. His time there inspired in him an interest in the oil industry and when he returned to college, he changed his major to Geology. He graduated in 1960 with a Bachelor of Science degree. He then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force Reserve. Upon completing active duty at Barksdale Air Force Base, he went to work with Hycalog, an oil field service company. In 1965, he enrolled in graduate school at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge where he earned a Master of Science degree in Geology. He then went to work as Associate Geophysicist with Humble Oil Company in New Orleans and later as an Exploration Geologist with Texaco. In 1976, André went to work for Davis Brothers in Houston. A year later, he became an independent geologist generating oil and gas prospects and a contract consultant to multiple clients. In 2000, André began a new career as a Senior Technical Writer with Geoquest, the software development division of Schlumberger Corporation. During his tenure there, he was an officer of the Schlumberger Biking Club and participated six times in the MS 150 Charity Event, a bike ride from Houston to Austin. In his last three years of biking in the event, he was a member of the MS 150 300 Club, a group of top fundraisers. In 2007, André began working as a Senior Technical Writer with Seismic Microtechnology Corporation, an oilfield software developer. He began fulltime retirement in 2008. He was an active member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists and the Society of Independent Petroleum Earth Scientists. While in New Orleans, he met Ann Reisfeld. Ann and André married on May 7, 1978. In October, 1979, they were blessed with the birth of their son, Adam, followed in February, 1983 with the birth of their son, Aaron. André's passions included traveling, tennis, baseball, fishing and genealogy. But his true passion was spending time with his family. He was a master at the barbecue grill, and he enjoyed preparing feasts for family and friends. He had a radiant smile, a light-hearted laugh and a wonderful sense of humor. He was respected and admired by those who knew him and deeply loved by his family who knew him best. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, integrity and wit. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Charles Michael Boutté. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Ann Reisfeld Boutté, his sons, Adam Reisfeld Boutté and Aaron Hirsch Boutté, his daughter-in-law Lynn Phan, his grandson Khanh Robert Boutté, his brother and sister-in-law Ronald and Susan Boutté, his sister-in-law Margaret Boutté, his brother-in-law Robert Reisfeld and wife Leslie and by his many nieces and cousins.
