Ann McIntyre Crain, 82, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2025. Born in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Archibald and Velma McIntyre.

Ann was known above all for her remarkable intelligence and her love of language, possessing an expansive vocabulary and exceptional word power that she shared generously with those around her. She attended Carnegie Mellon University on a full scholarship, a testament to her academic excellence.

On April 15, 1972, Ann married Charles Eugene Crain, beginning a devoted partnership that lasted until his passing on January 23, 2015. Together, they built a loving family, and Ann often said that her greatest accomplishment was raising their three children.

Ann dedicated most of her life to being a homemaker, creating a warm and nurturing environment for her family. She later worked for several years as an administrator and development assistant at Rice University, the alma mater shared by her husband and all three of her children.

Her passions included sewing, where she demonstrated her perfectionist nature through her collection of high-end sewing machines and beautiful creations, and cooking, through which she expressed her love for family and friends. Ann's kitchen was often the heart of family gatherings, filled with the aromas of her carefully prepared meals.

Ann is survived by her three children: Charles Eugene Crain II of Austin, age 52; Brian Tillman Crain of Houston, age 50; and Leigh Elise Crain of Houston, age 46. She was a cherished grandmother to Simon Charles Crain, age 22, Joel Edward Crain, age 20, and Falcon Eugene Fleming, age 7.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Charles, and her two brothers, Archibald "Arch" McIntyre II and James "Jim" McIntyre.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm, Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Forest Park Lawndale, Houston, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to Second Servings of Houston or the Houston Food Bank.

Ann's legacy lives on through the love she shared, the wisdom she imparted, and the strong family foundation she helped create. Her intelligence, warmth, and devotion to family will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
