Barbara Ann Aycock Duncan

Barbara Duncan Obituary

BARBARA ANN AYCOCK DUNCAN of Houston made her transition to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 4, 2004. She was born on September 11, 1937 to J.C. (Bill) and Mary Ann Aycock in St. Martinsville, Louisiana. Barbara spent the majority of her life in Houston, where she raised her three daughters from her marriage to Dan L Duncan, also of Houston. She valued learning at all levels and embarked on her college career in her 40's, where her ex-periences helped her earn not only a Bachelor's Degree in Business, but a Master's of Liberal Arts. The only stumbling block she really had to overcome was to grasp that you didn't have to know the value of x in order to solve the algebra problem. Barbara was a wonderful artist, poet, an avid gardener who could make a stick sprout, a kindred spirit and a lively wit with a passion for bad puns and Bulwer Lytton contests. She was also a hypnotherapist and a licensed counselor. She was preceded in death by her parents J.C. (Bill) and Mary Ann Aycock. Barbara has left behind Jack Keck, her partner of 25 years, her daughters, Randa Duncan Williams and husband Charlie, Dannine Duncan Avara and husband Skip, Milane Duncan Frantz and husband Matthew, and her beloved grandchildren, Jacob Wiley Avara, Anne Baily Avara and Harrison Mathew Williams. Friends are invited to a visitation with the family on Thursday, July 8, 2004 from six until eight o'clock in the evening at Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive. A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 9, 2004 at eleven o'clock in the morning in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons. Interment will follow in Bellville, Texas. For those so desiring, memorials may be made to the Baylor College of Medicine Breast Care Center, c/o Development office, 1 Baylor Plaza, Houston, Texas 77030.
