Bernard Rosenblatt Obituary

BERNARD ROSENBLATT, loving husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on May 24, 2009. He was born in Chicago on July 28,1936 to the late Isadore and Anne (Swartz) Rosenblatt and was raised in Miami with his brother, the late Milton Rosenblatt. Shortly after moving to Houston to attend the U of H, Bernie met the love of his life and wife of 51 years, Bernadean Aron Rosenblatt. Together they raised five children, Denise (Laws), Lynette, Warren, Kevin and Matthew and more than a few exotic and not-so-exotic pets. Together they enjoyed a life filled with family, friends and civic involvement. Bernie's hobbies included bowling, movies and travelling but his greatest joy came from being surrounded by his family and friends, especially his six grandchildren: Casey and Cody Rosenblatt, Evan Laws, Brianna Luna, Ellie Rosenblatt and Nicolas Guy. He was a respected and honored member of the Westbury Lions Club, and loved his years of involvement with youth sports leagues volunteering as a coach and referee as well as assuming leadership roles. His greatest passion was to be in the thick of life and share his views and zeal with abandon. Bernie was an incredibly generous man; above all, his greatest gift was to make sure that his friends and family always had a good time. If there was a problem he would try to take care of it. He is survived by his wife, Bernadean, their five children, six grandchildren and his beloved dog, Chelsea. A graveside service will be held at Beth Yeshurun Post Oak Cemetery, 1037 N. Post Oak , at 3pm on Tuesday, May 26. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Bernie's memory to Seven Acres or the Westbury Lions Club.

I will truly miss Bernie, he was my buddy and I have such fond memories of him. He was a good man and a wonderful person to know. I'n glad that I met and had a chance to become his friend. He was and always will be my special Bernie Mac and only I could call him that and get away with it. Cause he knew that I loved him.
I could never forget him, nor would I want to. Rest in peace my dear friend.
