April 20, 2011
Sister Bertha was one of our dearest friends. We met when we worked at Texas Childrens Hospital together and she was always there when I needed her for my patients. Sometimes I just needed her and she was there for me too. Our friendship continued to grow over the years to include family and fun outside of work. I think that's when the true love of our friendship developed.
My Mom loved to come and visit with Sister in the library and look at all of her scrape books from her Mission Work in Guatemala, and they would talk for what seemed like hours.
My Husband and I were there for her Jubilee Celebration's and she was at our 25th Wedding Anniversary Renewal of Vows at St Vincent's.
I will miss our visits and our Lunches.
We all feel so Blessed she was part of our lives.

What a very special lady you were Aunt Bert. You have touched the lives of so many people throughout your life. What a role model you are for so many young people. We can only hope to be as close to God in our time of death as you are now. We know you will be watching Mallory receive her First Communion from Heaven and watching over her always. We love you with all our heart and miss you very much.

Eternal rest grant unto Aunt Bert, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

We were honored to have Sister Benedict as our guest at the 50 year reunion of the Class of 1958 - The first graduating class at Marian High. What fun we had!!! I think that all the guys were still a little afraid of her. What a positive effect she had on all our lives. May God Bless and Keep Her.

I remember the yard stick of discipline in the corner mechanical drawning classroom. I worked with her brother Elmo at his parish some years later. That was indeed a long and productive life.

I remember Sr Benedict's grin as she would pass us in the halls, and see that twinkle in her eye! I am grateful for all of her contributions to our school and to our classes in the 1950's at Marian High School in Bellaire. She was a special person!

I remember the mischievious grin I would see on Sr. Benedict's face as she would pass us in the halls of Marian High School in the late 50's. She was a fine person, and extended her friendship to all of us. May she have lots of fun in Heaven!
