Betty Landry Obituary

BETTY LOUISE LANDRY LANDRY, 80 years old, beloved wife of Leo Landry, died peacefully at her home in Houston on June 7th 2009. She is guided to Heaven by her beloved daughter Catherine. She was born to Viola and Obey Landry on a rice farm in Leroy, Louisiana. She gave birth to seven beautiful children, Deborah, David, Donna, Charles, Cynthia, Chris and Catherine. She had 17 grandchildren, three great grand children and one surviving sister, Sarah Leblanc. She was a devoted member of Assumption Catholic Church with the first portion of their paychecks going to the church. A member of the Altar Society, the K.C. Ladies Auxiliary, K.C. Senior Club, Harvest Years and a tireless member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Betty was an excellent Cajun cook, just using a pinch of dis and pinch of dat with never having a problem fixing a meal for two or fifty. When asked if she was related to the famous restaurant chain, her answer was, "NO, but I can cook better than them!" Her garden was always colorful with flowers, which were acquired during her many travels. The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, June 9, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home, 13102 North Freeway, Houston, TX 77060. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Assumption Church, 901 Rose Lane, Houston, TX 77037, followed by a rite of committal at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery in the mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, all contributions can be made to St Vincent de Paul at Assumption.

Landry Family,

I've kept you all in my prayers and that shall not change. The girls and I want to extend our condolences to you all. We pray that all of your hearts find peace as quickly as possible.

My first impression of Mrs. Landry, which only grew stronger through the years. She was a fine lady of outstanding spiritual, moral worth, and tended to inspire those around her. One need only to spend a short amount of time with the Landry’s children and/or the children and their spouoses. They are incredibly wonderful adults who possess a great deal of their mother’s traits.

From the first time I entered the Landry's home, 32 or 33 years ago, I was welcomed with such warmth. Not all homes have that special quality. Theirs does and that is due to all the love, goodness, and laughter, etc., that dwelled within their home.

Mrs. Landry brought wisdom, kindness, warmth and laughter into my life. It is a treasure I've always held close to my heart.

As sad as her passing is for those left behind, I envision God's gardens and all of Heaven shall become even more beautiful now that Mrs. Landry is there.

Everyone who was honored to have known a lady as special Mrs. Landry, are better for it.

Since the girls and I live in the greater ChicagoLand area we are unable to attend services. Please know we are there with you spiritually.

GODSPEED MRS. LANDRY!

GOD BLESS THE ENTIRE FAMILY OF MRS. LANDRY.

Always,
Linda Bryant, Shan and Steph
