Betty Shuffield Obituary

BETTY DORIS KNIGHT SHUFFIELD, 70, a native of Houston, died May 20, 2002. She was born on Feb. 7, 1932 to Clark and Katie Mae (Ramsey) Knight. She attended San Marcus Baptist Academy and retired from American General Co. She was a Past-President of City Federation Women's Clubs of Houston and was a member of Jefferson Davis Chapter, United Daughters of the Confederacy and Alexander Love Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a longtime Democratic Party grass-roots activist. Proceeded in death by her parents and sister, Maurine Mae Knight. Surviving: Eugene "Gene" Joseph Shuffield, husband of 51 years; Lynna Kay Shuffield, daughter; Eugene Joseph Shuffield, Jr., son, all of Houston; brother, Milton Clark Knight, Sr. of Chappel Hill; sister, Katie Mae (Knight) Bottom of Willis; six nephews, numerous cousins and friends. Betty's life-long hobby was genealogy and she asked that in lieu of the flowers, donations be made to the "Betty Knight Shuffield Memorial Fund," Clayton Library Friends, P. O. Box 271078, Houston, Texas 77277-1078. Visitation Wednesday, May 22, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Aldine Funeral Chapel, 9504 Airline Dr (at Hill Rd.). Funeral services Thursday, May 23, 11:00 a.m., Aldine Funeral Chapel with interment services at 1:00, p.m., Earthman Resthaven Cemetery, 13102 North Frwy (at Greens Rd.).
