I met Brenda Waters at CCC in Chicago back in the mid 90's. I enjoyed her spirit and the way that the LORD used her to minister in song. She is truly missed:)!!!!!

I got familiar with Brenda Waters in 2002 when I heard the last part of Victory on Gospel Highway 11 radio station. However, I didn't know it was Brenda Waters singing the until a former co-worker brought a cassette tape of the song to worker and let another co-worker hear it. When I asked who sang the song, she told it was Brenda Waters. After work, I went to the record store and purchased Brenda Waters' CD. I was working as a Telephone Sales Rep. at the time. My prayers, sympathy, and condolences go out the family during their time of bereavement.

Well my dear sweet cousin, there has definitely been a void in my life since your departure. I miss you so much and the wonderful times we've shared. I suppose you all are having a great reunion up yonder, singing all over God's Heaven. This is getting tough, but a big hug and kiss for you. Tell them all I that I love and long for your presence, but I do understand that The Lord loved you more.

It is so hard even after a year to deal with your absence. You were always here to share with me in the many seasons of my life. I was not ready to see go but realize that if you could not be here you would be there with our Father.

You missed the Katrina hurricane and me living in Houston but I know you and the angel guided and protected me and the family to safety. You're still tops with me.

We all miss you and will never stop thinking you and Gam and Mommie.

You and Grammy go on and enjoy and we will see you later.

I promise to help and be here for Hedrich and and her family for the rest of my days.

Things are really not the same but God is always here to comfort and keep

You would really be proud of Rise (she's as crazy as we were)

She's filling that spot.

So until then rest in His care.........

I'll always love you

Dear Brenda,

The last words you spoke to me are still ringing in my soul. Thank you, for your gift you so freely gave to the world. When I was a little girl you inspired me to be better and do more. At death you empowered me to be better and do more. Know that I love you and miss you and by God's grace I will carry the mantel you gave me. Love always.

Wow! A year has passed since your Heavenly Commencement! You are dearly missed. I still can recall as if it were yesterday when we were at Dwight's home in New Orleans for the GMWA. You and I had songs in the Mens Division. Your words of inspiration still mean a lot to me this day. I know you're up there in Heaven running things. Save a Seat for me!

Girl, how could you go on and leave me so soon? I wasn't through being mothered, you know. And Chris can say Sweetie. Well, feetie, actually. Do you get to use God's telescope to see it? Hear it? This year he can say spider with the "s" on the front and everything. Plus he says a whole lot of other stuff. Funny stuff like calling me Hegig (Remember I went through a phase like that?) and sweet stuff like "I love you". We would have wanted to say that to you for your birthday yesterday. But instead we sang Itsy Bitsy Spider like we did this time last year. And Chris said "Tear, hug" as we quietly celebrated your birthday. Miss you terribly, Yo'daughter

Well, what can we say about Brenda. With us being so far away it seems unreal to us that you really won't call at some ridiculous hour to sing to me or to ask me if I'm handling my business, or just calling to say, "Hello Chinnses". We miss your voice, your smile, your vibrant life and your spiritual wisdom.

What a giant you were on earth. God blessed us so through you - and I'm glad that we were able to thank you with our hands from the bottom of our hearts for every encouraging word to Joseph and Jeremy - for every piece of sheet music, every private concert you endured, every hug you gave them, for being there at Lloyd's first sermon, and at the death of his mother, for the trips to WalMart, Lane Bryant, Picadilly - for the constant encouragement. For letting us love you so freely before we left for Ghana.

Your deposit into our lives is a gift of grace to our family and we do sorely miss you. Your crown we know is glorious, your mansion beyond compare -- we will see you in bright glory!

I met Ms Brenda in the early 1970's when the Youth Inspirational Choir of N.O., LA. regularly fellowshiped with Southeast. I will never forget the spaghetti dinner we had at her house when we came to Houston. Ms Brenda has always been special and real. Brenda, Carl and Shirley I love you and appreciate the fact that you ministered to me at a time when I needed it. I will never forget you and long to meet you again when we see Jesus. Brenda told us about "The Stranger In town". Your friendship is "Sweeter than April Showers" and you always let us know that our testimony should be "I can never get enough of God's Love". Little did I know when I saw you last year in N.O. with Dwight it would be my last time. I'm glad I captured the moment with a picture. Houston, Southeast, B C & S and the gospel world have truly lost a great one who fought a good fight and kept the faith.

Brenda Waters meant so much to the body of Christ, especially those who love gospel music. I still remember the first time Southeast Inspirational Choir visited my home church, Blueridge Baptist. All of the youth were inspired by that great choir and its directors, Brenda, Carl, and Shirley. After that, I looked forward to being in any worship service with them. As a member of the Alvin Dread Singers, I had that opportunity many times. Whether it was with BC&S, Southeast, or her solo career, Brenda gave her best to the Lord. Heidrich and family, may the wonderful memories comfort you at this time. Know that your mother touched the lives of many, many people, in a mighty way, and she will never be forgotten. God's peace and blessings to you.

It is with mixed emotions to hear of Brenda Faye Waters' celestial discharge. Brenda is known to be a God lead musician, composer, arranger, choir director and music workshop consultant. However, is much more than that to me.

I first met Brenda in August of 1984 on the campus of the University of the District of Columbia. Shortly thereafter, she formed a community Gospel Choir known as the UDC Voices which I joined. On June 19, 1985, Brenda had formally ended choir rehearsal. Because of Brenda's friendliness and being a great joke teller, many (like me) stayed round just to be in her presence. Being a sinner, the Lord used Brenda that night to explain to me the plan of salvation. After being raised in a COGIC church for 19 years, I had never heard God's plan shared with me in such a simple manner. After I had recited a simple prayer (lead by her) and belived in my heart, I became a born again Christian. Thus, Brenda then became my spiritual mother.

After that night, I could truthfully sing and comprehend her songs such as "Eternal Security" and "I Have Dominion" over everything. In addition, due to God using Brenda to motivate me both musically and spiritually, I answered God's call to become an ordained minister of Gospel and an anointed minister of music.

I truly miss Brenda but I look forward to joining with her to be " ...Present with the Lord".

To Hedreich, and the Waters family

Thank you for sharing such a beautiful woman of God with the rest of the world. May God's peace be with you.

To the family of Ms. Brenda Waters

I had the priviledge and honor to attend a workshop in November 2004 at Cathedral of Faith Baptist Church in Beaumont, TX, and Ms. Brenda was our guest clinician.

She taught us many things about music (posture, breathing, attention to the director, etc.), but the most memorable thing I remember is the way she praised the Lord with her whole heart. She demanded that we give God our best because He gave us His best, Jesus. I loved her spirit and the way her smile lit up the room. I am glad I had the priviledge to hug her before she left the workshop. I didn't know that would be my last time seeing and hearing her sing.

Her relationship with Jesus was real. She inspired me to have a closer and more intimate relationship with the Lord. That was very important to Ms. Brenda.

I will greatly miss her. She told our choir that when she get to heaven she will be in charge of the heavenly choir. I believe she is doing just that. Sing on my sister.

Family, hold on to God's unchanging hand. Let His peace abide in your hearts and minds. The Comforter is ever present, when you need Him, just call Him and He will be there.

May the Lord bless and keep you in your time of berevement.

To Hedreich and the Waters family,

Brenda's songs and delightful spirit blessed and warmed so many hearts. We are so blessed to have been a part of her life. Brenda taught so many people how to praise through song. I thank you so much Hed for sharing your mother with me. It is so hard for me to loose her, for I know without a doubt that she trully loved me. I know how much she would call my name befor the Lord. I know how she stood in the gap for me, how she literally took me under her wing and taught me everything I know about music. I'll never forget the countless times I sat at her feet while she sang to me or, how she and I would talk into the wee hours of the night about music and our Lord. I will miss her greatly for she was my friend and mentor. She was a master teacher and I was her star pupil.

I first came in contact with Brenda Water as the director for Southeast Inspiration Youth Choir. I watched she in absolute amazement. Her style, grace, technique and poise were just enchanting. I also followed her work with BCS and personal projects as well. I did not have the privilege to work with her personally, but she inspired me greatly. More than anyone could ever know from afar. Now she sings in the heavenly choir.

To the family and fellow suffers in the gospel music world, be strong in the Lord. Keep lifting up the songs of praise and excellence that Brenda has placed before us. We will miss her and in time we all shall meet again.

When we think of Brenda Waters, we think of someone sweet and fun-loving. But when it comes to God and the music that glorifies His name, Brenda was a very serious woman. She was an anointed songwriter, composer, musician and directress, whose music ALWAYS coincided with the word of God.

We resolve to hold pleasant memories of Brenda in our hearts. We will always appreciate Brenda for the beautiful music she taught our choir. More than 20 years ago she blessed us with her music that has only recently been recorded by nationally known recording artists.

Brenda used her talent unselfishly. One of the things we remember so vividly was that during her choir rehearsals, she wanted your complete cooperation, and her unique manner of conducting rehearsals demanded just that. Her commitment to give God her very best caused her to speak firmly to us and yet with compassion. Her energy seemed untiring. We tried to grasp every song and every moment of vocal training that she presented. Her songs were so meaningful and always spiritual.

Often, she would tell us' "I wrote this one on the airplane en route to

"music workshop" in Martinsville. Y'all are so smart. I like to try new things with y'all!" This woman had God-given talent. We resolve now and forever, to remember this beautiful, talented woman, who taught and embedded in our minds and hearts forever such wonderful songs as "Yes He Included Me", I Am The One", "I Have Got A New Song", "Eternal Security", "Faith In The Power of God", and so many many others. Not just the songs, but the precise vocal articulation she used when singing and teaching choirs will NEVER be forgotten.

To Hedreich, your husband and son and the entire waters famiy and all those who have been affected by Brenda's passing, our prayers and hearts go out to you and in days to come we will continually lift your names up to our Father who is faithful to see us through these times.

Hedreich we want you to know that we love you and we have been so blessed by your mothers music ministry. WE CAN NEVER FORGET Brenda Waters.

To the Water's family, as humans we are filled with sadness when we lose a loved one, but the saints of God rejoice because we know that to live is Christ and to die is gain. The life that she lived has insured her an eternal life in heaven.

she has been a blessing to our entire family. She taught us there is more to singing the Gospel, she caused us to commit to studying the word of God for ourselves which has transformed our lives. Ms. Brenda made a tremendous impression on our son who is an aspiring gospel artist Brandon "Eric" Sanders. To Hedreich and the entire Waters Family, may god bless you and keep you, as you gain strength, joy , laughter and pride from being a part of the legacy of Ms Brenda Waters, "Musical Extraordinaire"

I first met Ms.Brenda, about 1980 when I aspired to be a lead singer for my church choir ,OMBC, under Ms. Shirley Joiner. I began to take voice lessons from Ms. Brenda and did well at first...so I thought....until one day she told me...."Tyrone I don't have time to waste.....either you do your breathing excersises and vocal excersises or you can keep your lil' change.....because you will never be a great singer at this rate"......Well needless to say...She was right ! I never became a great singer....but I became a better person, because she taught me that persistence is the key to success in all things.....And today, I am a successful Business person who owns their own business.....Thank You Ms. Brenda....I Love You !

I want you to know that your mother was one of my dearest childhood friends. She would come to Opelousas every summer to live with your great-grandparents, Ms. Octavia and Mr. Henry Sias. Your great-great-grandfather, pastored the church that my father, the late Reverend C.J. Jones, also pastored. Brenda and I spent many days and nights together. She loved to laugh, sing, and eat.

In March of last year, a reunion was held for former members of Jerusalem,B.C. and former residents of the Greenwoods community in Opelousas. We were able to contact Brenda and she came. That was the first time we had seen each other in over 30 years or more. We laughed and talked about the good old days, and promised to meet again this year for the same occasion. Unfortunately, she was unable to be with us. I am eternally grateful to God that He allowed us to meet one last time.

You have been blessed with a mother who loved the Lord and praised His name in word and song. She sang like a bird and will continue to sing in glory. I'm sure that she is singing and her grandmother, Ms. Octavia is playing the piano. They are probably fussing about how the song should go. Eventually Ms. Octavia will give in because she never could resist giving in to Brenda.

My thoughts, prayers, and love are with you during this time of bereavement. Remember that God is able to keep you if you trust and believe. Cherish your memories and live the life that your mom would be proud of, for she was a very proud woman, and rightly so.

If after you have setteled down, you have the time and desire to communicate with me, please do so. I would be thrilled to share some of the experiences your mom and I shared as we grew up together.

I pray for strength for the family of Ms. Brenda Waters during this time of bereavement. Ms. Waters was a truly unique teacher, musician, choir director, and jokester. I had the honor , and the priviledge to work with Ms. Waters in November of 2004. She was a clinician for our 15th church anniversary at Cathedral of Faith Baptist Church in Beaumont, Texas. I really enjoyed her presentation, and her devotion for giving God her best, and commanding the we do the same. She will be greatly missed by all the had the blessing of being in her presence.

If heaven rejoices over one sinner that repents, can you imagine what they are doing over this awesomely gifted beautiful saint of the Lord. Always one to encourage and willing to share in the Word. Ms. Brenda has left an indelible impression on the hearts of many. Thanks for encouraging me to just sing like me and be me and not anyone else. True praise is from the heart of me and that is what he accepts. To the Family, thank you for sharing her with the gospel music industry, and with all of Christiandom. Let the legacy continue.

Brenda Waters was very special to all of us. She opened the 1st door for me in Houston (before I even moved here) to minister at a gospel program. The gospel music industry will feel a tremendous loss. Truly we loved her, but GOD loved her best. To God be the glory, for her gift and her life.

I had the priviledge of working with Sis. Brenda Waters at the Pure Light Church of Houston in 2003. She was a delightful person who brought a spirit of excellence to our ministry. I am grateful to have known this stellar personality.

I was a very introverted, and shy "flautist" when I met Brenda for the first time years ago. It was very hard for me to "play in front of people when I first began going out in public with the instrument. But at some musical, by divine intervention, I ran into Ms. Brenda Waters. Like to scared me to "life", cause she wasn't for no foolishness. "You got a gift, Felix, and you need to stop being so shy", she said in so many words. So she took my number down, and started calling me to come to various musicals and workshops she was involved in. Slowly, but surely, I began to get confident on the instrument. Partly because she "kept me in front of people". I shall never forget those early days as long as I live. I look forward to the day when we shall meet again. Maybe, just maybe -I'll have my flute with me as well :-). My prayers are with the family, during this time of bereavement.

"I put all my trust in Him. For I know He never fails!" I recall so vividly the day I met the Prima Donna Brenda Waters when she came to Houston Mass Choir rehearsal. We shared information. She was impressed that I had a businnes card for later communication. We met again in New Orleans through Professor Dwight Franklin. Brenda was a great inspiration to me during that time when I taught "Right Here in This Place" to the Men of Promise of the GMWA. I will certainly miss her warm, vivacious countenance! Heaven has certainly gained another true ANGEL!

I can say that Sis. Brenda Waters was a very stern and direct women of God. She conducted a music workshop @ my church and I was also supposed to be taking vocal lessons from her almost @ the same time that she became ill. May God bless her family and her beautiful spirit that will live inside of all of us.

Thank God for sharing Ms. Brenda with us!! It was a privilege and a blessing to have known her. She was like a sister to me, opening up their home to allow us to spend weekends with her and her family during the anniversary celebrations of the various Community Choirs in Houston at that time, and spending weekends with us when she would come for weekend visits. She was an inspiration to all who met her, and most importantly, a saved woman of God! I will truly miss her from sitting down and singing from the piano, or from her favorite seat, but indeed, although she is "Absent From The Body, She Is Present With The Lord"! My prayers are with Hedrich and the rest of the family! A Jewel is no longer shining down here, but those of us who are saved have hope,... We will see her again!

To the family and extended family of Sis. Brenda Waters: As a lover and fan of her music, you have suffered a great loss. Brenda came to my church some years ago and did a musical workshop, and I just enjoyed her teaching and her knowledge of Christ. She taught us a song called "Victory", a song that reminds us that God can do anything that we ask of him to do. Brenda does have the "Victory" now, and just as her song says, absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Death has no sting and the grave surely does not have "Victory." In closing, hold on and be strong. God is good and he is good all the time! Remember, never put a question mark where God has a period. Be blessed in the Lord until you see her again!

To the family of Brenda Waters: I would like to say as a fan and lover of her music, she was a truly blessed and a spiritual woman in Christ. She came to my church once some years ago and did a musical workshop, and it was absolutely wonderful! I enjoyed her teaching and her knowledge of the Bible. In closing, I would like to say to the family, be encouraged and stay strong. I am reminded of song that she taught my church called "Victory". Brenda does have the "Victory" now. I know that she will be missed greatly; but to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord, death has no sting and the grave surely does not have victory. Be blessed and highly favoured until you see her again!

I can still remember the days of her smiles and stern lessons. More than 30 years ago in a rehersal Brenda said " God has been to good to give him a half praise", well I didn't understand that then as a teenage kid ; but I understand it now as a man in the Lord. Your lessons live on in the hearts and minds of thousands.

I am blessed that our lives intersected. Her wit, verve, and sheer musical genius will always remain with me. How appropriate that she is "absent from the body, and present with the Lord".
