Brigitte Laki

Brigitte Bertsche Laki, 65, of Houston, TX passed away on July 21, 2012 in Hungary. Brigitte immigrated to White Plains, NY from Germany in 1960 with her family at 13 years of age. Brigitte graduated Summa Cum Laude from New York University in 1971 as one of the first women to earn a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering from the venerable institution. Her successful career at Exxon Mobil spanned over 30 years and included several prestigious management roles within the company. Brigitte's passions included running and was an active member of the Roadrunner's Association of Houston. She participated in countless marathons all over the country. Also, she was a beloved member of Lakeside Country Club, where she spent a great deal of time as an avid golfer. Brigitte and her husband also enjoyed a second home in Switzerland, where they enjoyed several activities, including golf and hiking, as well as spending time with their many friends.
Brigitte is preceded in death by her parents, Adolf and Aloisia Bertsche of Rottweil, Germany. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Joseph N. Laki, her two daughters, Audrey Laki Flores and Karen Heidi Laki, son-in-law David A. Flores, her brother Karl Bertsche and family, sister Luise Bertsche, sister-in-law Andrea Horvath and family, mother-in-law Ilona Laki, and many more family members and friends that she was so fortunate to have in her life. The Laki Family wishes to extend a big thank you to Art and Lyn Sullivan for devoting so much time to them in Hungary and in Houston.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service in Honor of Brigitte Bertsche Laki will be held in the very near future at Lakeside Country Club, her second home.
Brigitte was an amazing lady, a devoted wife, mother, colleague and friend. She will truly be missed.
