Bruce Murray Obituary

Murray
Bruce Murray died peacefully in his sleep Tuesday, February 22, 2011. He is preceded in death by his Mother, Father, sister and beloved son, Bruce Jr. He is survived by his wife, Anita Purkiss Murray, adopted son Guy and adopted daughter Roxanne who both live in Canada.
Born in England April 21, 1933, the family migrated to Canada when Bruce was three. Bruce graduated from the University of Alberta in 1957 with a B.Sc. in chemical engineering with post graduate credits in engineering, economics and business administration. He was transferred to Houston in 1977 to work on a project with Dow Chemical Company. Here he met the love of his life, Anita who was also from England, and they married April 29, 1977. As a registered Professional Engineer he worked for Transco from 1977 to 1996 in the Pipeline Design Department, Research & Project Development then headed up the Pipeline Design Division After early retirement from Transco he continued working as an independent consultant until 2009. While he lived in the United States for over 30 years, he remained a Canadian citizen.
Bruce had a brilliant mind with a Mensa IQ yet he related to everyone with soft-spoken ease. He had a tremendous love of math, music and his Maine Coon cat. Under his full head of dark brown hair he had a very dry wit. Bruce will be terribly missed by his wife, friends and business associates.
Internment will be next to Bruce Jr. in the Memorial Wall at Forest Park Cemetery Westheimer in Houston. Those wishing to make a memorial gift in his honor, please do so to an animal charity of your choice.

Bruce was a knowledgeable and valued business colleague; but most of all a very good friend of mine. He was a gentleman, and treated all with kindness and respect. I will miss him a lot.

Dear Anita;

My thoughts are with you at this time, and on the great memories I had working with Bruce. We shared many good times through our work together, and I will always be grateful to have known Bruce, and through him, you. God Bless, Greg Hopper
