Bryan Scott Memoriam

Bryan Scott
05/12/1938 - 12/22/2022
Bryan Wheeler Scott, of Moulton, Texas, died on December 22, 2022. He was 84. He is survived by his wife Barbara Scott, his sister Glennda Scott Cook, and his children, Melinda Williams, Bryan Scott Jr., and Mary Kay Scott.

Bryan was born May 12, 1938 in Wheeler, Texas to Glenn and Lucille Scott, and grew up in Amarillo, attending Amarillo High. He went to law school at Baylor University in Waco, receiving his J.D. in 1961. He practiced law mainly in Houston, Texas.

Bryan was a talented orator and litigator. He successfully argued before the Supreme Court of Texas the case that established the rule of tracing separate property in and back out of the marriage. (Horlock v. Horlock, 533 S.W.2d 52). The case is taught in Texas law schools, and has been cited in subsequent cases at least 54 times.

He was proud of his long-lasting marriage to Barbara.

Bryan retired from practicing law full time, and moved to property outside Schulenburg, Texas, where he built a new house for himself and his wife Barbara, and began tending a grove of native pecan trees. He very much enjoyed working on and improving the property. He also spent much of his time studying and teaching from scripture as he loved Jesus and sharing the gospel with others.

Oh, I am so sorry. I worked with Bryan for years and we were and are friends. (We will still be in heaven when I get there.) Bryan moved and we lost track of each other. I did not know he was over at Schulenberg, or I would have visited. Praying for Barbara and his family.
