Burton Harrington Obituary

Burton Joseph
Harrington age 79, died in his sleep at home on September 3, 2013. He was born March 3, 1934 in Newark, N.J. to Joseph and Doris Nealy Harrington.
Burt was a graduate of St Thomas University and served in the Navy during the Korean War. After his time in the military he worked in electronics until his retirement. He was an active member of St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Community in Spring, Texas where he served for many years as a teacher of both Scripture Study and the Roman Catholic Initiation of Adults. Burt was a dedicated Lector and Eucharistic Minister as well as a Eucharistic Visitor to hospitals for many years. As a long time fourth degree Knight of Columbus, he actively participated in all of the Knight's charitable, religious and social activities.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Jo, as well as his four children, Judy Sloan, Scott, Jay, and Katherine Harrington, his step-children, Marisa Bascope Sirvent, his son-in-law, Luis Sirvent, Juan Carlos Bascope, Kerstine Bascope Nass, Miguel Bascope, eight grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dolores Feltz Harrington, his sister, Joan Horan, and his oldest son, Christopher.
Vigil services will be held in the Lady Chapel of St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church in Spring, Texas, Sunday evening, September 8th, 2013, at 7:30 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Ignatius Loyola on Monday, September 9th, 2013 at 11:00 am.
