Carlos Nava Obituary

Carlos Nava
2015
Carlos Nava passed away in his sleep at home on August 25, 2015 after a brief affliction with ALS. Born in Mexico City, he spent his robust life living his dreams.
He achieved the rank of Cabo in the Signal Corps of the Mexican army and then he came as a young man to New York. Soon he brought family members to join him there. Loving the romance of the railroad, he spent many happy years as a train dispatcher in upstate New York.
In his middle years, Carlos moved to Houston where he became active in the community, hosting a Spanish language talk show on television. He was one of the founding fathers of the Canal 45 television station and spent several years in the media business in Houston. After the station was purchased by the Univision network in the mid-1990s, he retired to the Texas Hill Country and traveled extensively. In his final years, he split his time between the Hill Country and Sugar Land.
Passionate, dynamic, enthusiastic, Carlos devoured life everyday as an adventure, making him unforgettable to all who met him. He is survived by Robin Nava, his wife of 29 years; a large multifaceted and loving family; and a treasury of friends. A memorial service will be held in his honor on Tuesday September 1 at 7 pm at the Houston Scottish Rite Building, located at 2401 West Bellfort.
In lieu of flowers, the family would welcome your participation in Team Nava for the Walk to Defeat ALS on October 3rd at the University of Houston Campus

Carlos Nava was a fine man, good friend and one of the best Mason's I have had the pleasure of knowing. He was always fun to talk to and had the best stories. I have and could listen to him for hours. Robin I cannot be at the service tonight for him but know that you are in my prayers and that I am thinking of all the times that I had with such a fine man. All who knew him will miss him. I am a better man for knowing him.

Fraternally,
