Cassandra Heard Obituary
Cassandra "Cassie" Heard transitioned to her "Heavenly Home" on Monday, July 7, 2014 after a brief illness.
Born November 27, 1939 in Montezuma, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Hudson and Daisy Thornton.
She came to Akron at the age of seven and lived here her entire life. She was a true "warrior for the Lord" attending Arlington Church of God until her health was compromised. To know Cassie was to be touched by her gift to make everyone feel special. She met no strangers, and if he did she would be sure to feed them because of her love for people and cooking.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hudson and Daisy Thornton; husband, Melvin Heard; and one brother. She is survived by her daughter, Valerie Heard; son, Victor (Norma) Heard; grandson, Anthony Heard; honorary sisters, Rose Davis and Sadie Fisher; honorary daughters, Debbie Roberts and the late Maria; and many family members and friends.
Homegoing service will be held Monday, July 14, 2014 at 12 Noon at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 442 Bell St., Akron, OH 44307, Rev. Jack Streeter officiating. Interment Greenlawn Memorial Park. Friends may visit at the church from 11 a.m. until time of service. Procession will form and condolences may be sent to 266l Mull Ave., Akron, OH 44321.

Well mommy it´s year 11 and it STILL hasn´t gotten any easier.... I think of and talk to you every day You were a woman like no other....You gave me life... nurtured me...taught me and fought for me...There is nothing like a mother´s love ....I miss you so much and can´t wait till that GLORIOUS day when we will be reunited and thus shall we always be with the Lord!!!

Well mommy I´m embarking on an anniversary that I wish that I didn´t have to acknowledge and that is the tenth anniversary of your homegoing...I STILL miss you immensely and find myself speaking to you several times EVERY day.. I won´t be in Ohio until later as I´ will be celebrating Victor´s big birthday Mommy I still await the day when the Father calls me home and what a wonderful reunion that will be...Always howdy howdy and never goodbye....

Hello mommy...I can't believe it's already been 8 years since I had to say farewell for now...I never stop missing you and I never will!!!
The moment that you left me my heart split in two...
One side filled with memories, the other side died with you..
I often lay awake at night when the world is fast asleep and take a walk down memory lane with tears upon my cheek...
Remembering you is easy, I do it everyday, but missing you is a heartache that never goes away....

Well mom it´s been another year and I still am missing you as much as year one and this is year seven... Ss you know I couldn´t make it last year... But in the words of our theme song... "Ain´t no mountain high enough "... Nothing was going to keep me from coming to Ohio this year....God knows I can´t wait to be reunited with you but we know it´s in His time not ours....All the prayers that you grandma and granddaddy prayed for Victor and I have come to fruition.... We both have succeeded beyond our wildest dreams and I know it´s " Only because of The Father ".... I pray you´re proud of us....

Hi mommy,
Its now been six years since the Lord called you home and I miss you as much as year one. A lot has changed in the world since you left and it hasnt been for the good... Unfortunately I wasnt able to make it to Akron this year in observance of your homegoing because of Covid... Hopefully nothing stops me from coming next year.... You would be so proud of the relationship that Victor and I have maintained always putting the Lord first in all that we do... You would be so proud of him and hopefully you are also of me... I always remember what you would say to me You are so precious in my life...and Ill never forget you or that saying....Until we meet on the other shore I love you ❤... God bless you...

Well mom... I cant believe its been five years since the Lord called you home.... People say time heals all wounds but that doesnt seem to be working for me... Your departure is just as raw and painful today as it was when I saw you take your last breath ...however through the Holy Spirit Im taking it day by day... Mom I miss you so much... I know youre great in Heaven and waiting on Vic and I but until then know that I miss my best friend and after Jesus.... I love you most of all❤❤....

They say that there is a reason...They say time will heal...Neither time or reason will change the way I feel. Gone are the days we used to share.... but in my heart you are always there. The gates of memories will never close.... I miss you more than anybody knows.

Hey mom, this is the third anniversary of your Heavenly transition and they say it gets easier but it doesn't....I just learn that thru prayer I can overcome the grief. Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things thru Christ who strengthens me" is totally appropriate. Victor and I are doing well which brings to mind another scripture from 3John 1:4 which says "I have no greater joy than to hear my children are walking in the truth"....We love and miss your physical presence....but look forward to seeing you and or Lord and savior Jesus Christ when our time comes.In closing mom, you taught me everything I know, except how to live without you.....
