I was one year ahead of you at Austin High School. We played JV football together when I was a junior. Maybe it has been since 1965 since we last visited.
I am saddened by the loss of your son Chad. From the comments shared in this Guest Book, Chad was certainly a wonderful young man.
A little over 13 years ago, my daughter, Joy, 14 years old at that time, was killed. Therefore, I have a 13 year head start on you on the walk down the difficult path of parental grief for the loss of a child. Sometime down the road I would love the opportunity to take you to lunch or buy you a cup of coffee. I have big ears and broad shoulders for dads walking down this path. Joy's favorite Bible verse was
1 Peter 5:7 which reads "Let Him have all your worries and cares, for He is always thinking about you and watching everything that concerns you." It has been my experience that I have found that in the worst of times-when we hurt the most, God is a constant on whom I can rely.

I just received the information about Chad through a co-worker. Chad worked for me at Shell Oil Company some years back and him and I became really good friends through the years. I lost touch with him a couple of years back. I am devistated at this news as are all of my co-workers. Coach McDonald & Family,
Many years have passed since I last saw Chad on the other side of the Klein Memorial Stadium playing for Klein Oak while I was playing football for Klein. Years pass but I still remember Chad and the McDonald family through Strack, Klein Oak, and friendships that were shared between us. Coach McDonald coached most of us all young men through Strack and I was very saddened to hear the loss of your son. The McDonald Family and Glenda - So shocked to learn about Chad's passing. These are the times when we can only hold to God's unchanging hand - Lean on his strong arms - as Mahalia Jackson sings, "God Knows the Reason Why." We don't - but He does and when we get there, it won't matter. But while we are waiting in the "wings" for our transport home, we can rest in the peace that only comes from knowing that He is in control always regardless of the storms that assail us. I love you all and trust that you will grow closer and draw strength from your natural family and especially your SBC family. God bless you - Mom and Dad send their condolences too.

So, where to begin as I am still coming to grips with losing such a wonderful friend - as competitive as Team Cones is - we have never fought about Chad's friendship - we did love him like family and we know that he truly is an irreplaceable spirit -
I will miss getting him fired up - nothing beats Chaddy Chad on a roll when he is making us laugh - I will miss his warm and comforting hugs - I will miss him, period.
As his parents and family, you must be so proud to reflect on just what a special man he was - as I know as his friends we loved having him on our "team."
It was rare you ever heard Chad say anything negative about any of his friends - and to be truthful, I can't recall a time he ever made a "short joke" about my hubby - that says alot.
I know he is scoping the scene out down here - calling "plays" from above and making sure all his people are taken care of - while I miss him being within my reach - I know he is right here and hasn't missed a beat.

I had the privelage of knowing your Chad for almost 20 years. He was one of a kind.
Chad always made me feel like I was the only person in the room when I was telling him a story. He did that with everyone who crossed his path.
He always smiled and always made me smile.

Chad was a childhood friend of mine. A great guy who always smiled and made those around him smile as well. I first met Chad, playing little league football on the Klein Oilers around the age of 10 or 11. We bacame quick friends and remember spending the night on a few occasions at the McDonald home. Many people confused us, saying we looked alot a like. The cases of mistaken identy followed me as Chad and I went to competing High Schools (Klein / Klein Oak). I am so sorry to hear about his sudden passing! It is a very sad day and he will be missed by so many. My thoughts and prayers are with his friends and family. May God bless you all.
