Charles Beyer Obituary

Charles Allan Beyer
1949-2016
After a brief illness, our beloved Charles Allan Beyer was peacefully ushered into the arms of our Lord on April 27, 2016, surrounded by his family. Charles was born at St. Joseph's Hospital in Houston, TX on June 16, 1949.
Charles was proud of the fact that he was born, raised, educated and worked his entire life in Houston, Texas. He attended Mount Carmel elementary through high school and received his B.S. in Civil Engineering in 1972 and M.S. in Civil Engineering in 1977 from the University of Houston. Among his many professional accomplishments, Charles was named University of Houston's Distinguished Engineering Alumni in 2001, served as the President of Houston Contractors Association in 1997, served as the President of HESS Club in 2000-2001, founded Beyer Construction in 1983 and Stormwater Solutions in 2001, was a Folds of Honor Wingman, avid saltwater fisherman and hunter. Charles was also a golf enthusiast, a sport he enjoyed traveling the world experiencing with his wife, Nancy. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and lived a life honoring the love of family. He will forever be known as the Beyer Family Fireworks Director.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Audrey Beyer. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Nancy; daughter, Meredith Beyer Brown of Houston; son Bubba Beyer and wife, Casey, of Houston; son Scott Beyer and wife, Lisa, of Houston; grandsons, Nathan, Evan and Zachary Brown and Keegan BeyerPack of Houston; brothers, sisters and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Charles embodied the motto he imparted to any who met him, "The world is run by those who show up." He never met a project that was a match for him and lived life to the fullest each day with humor, honor and enviable zeal.
A funeral mass will be held on May 17, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church in Spring, with a celebration of life reception immediately following at Northgate Country Club. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the following: University of Houston - Cullen College of Engineering, ATTN: Charles Beyer Civil Engineering Endowed Scholarship, 4722 Calhoun Rd., Room E421, Houston, TX 77204, or Golfers Against Cancer (honoring Charles Beyer), Northgate Country Club, 17110 Northgate Forest Drive, Houston, TX 77068.

I remember attending construction meetings with Charlie over about a 25-30 year period. Never once saw him without a smile on his face or without a good word to say. A true gentleman. The Lord's Peace be with his family, always.

Nancy, we are so sorry to hear of Charles passing. He would always smile and wave from his white truck in the mornings when i saw him as I walked our dog. Once, he rolled down his window and jokingly asked me, "Are you walking that dog or is he walking you?" You and your family are in our continued prayers. Please let us know if there is anything we can do for you as we are just down the street.
