Charles Harger Obituary

Charles G. "Corky" Harger
1941-2017
Corky was born October 18, 1941, in Vinton, Iowa and went to be with his loving wife Sandy and best friend Ben Reynolds on June 20, 2017. He was the third of five children born to Orland & Lois Harger.
He was predeceased by his parents and oldest brother, Lyle Harger. He is survived by his brother, Dr. M. L. Harger and his wife, Helen, of Deer Park, Cheryl Boyd and her husband, Sam, of Horseshoe Bay and brother, Gary Harger and his wife, Elene, of Georgetown. He is also survived by his four children, Tammy Tinsley and her husband, Pat, of Lubbock, James Harger and his wife, Donna, of Lubbock, Lee Harger and his wife, Michelle, of Lubbock and Chris Harger and his wife, Heather, of Lubbock. He was also a proud grandad and great granddad of 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
An honorably discharged veteran of the USAF as a radar technician, Corky spent many years following his discharge servicing radio towers and radio phones long before the advent of the cell phone. In his time, he climbed some of the tallest radio towers throughout Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. In more recent years, he and his late wife Sandy were the owners and operators of Ft. Bend Saddlery, a tack and leather supply company based in Richmond/Rosenberg focused on the hunter/jumper clubs and shows throughout the Southwest.
Other than his family and "Big Red" his Harley, his proudest achievement was his involvement with Alcoholics Anonymous clubs in the Richmond area and the lives he has directly impacted through his sobriety, love, encouragement and commitment. His family thanks this larger family of his closest friends for their love, encouragement and support over the past few months as his health declined. A special thank you is due to Thurman Bolton and Dr. Ivan Mefford for their devotion and continued care.
A celebration of his life and the lives of those he touched will be held at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg with a time for friends and family on this Friday, June 23, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., service on Saturday, June 24, 2016, at 2:00 p.m., graveside immediately following at Morton Cemetery in Richmond.
Pallbearers are Gary Carol, Gary Bob Moran, Al Kovar, Thurman Bolton, Sam Sloan and grandson Jason Johnson.
Tributes and words of condolence may be left for the family at www.davisgreenlawnfh.com.

I was so sorry to learn of Corky's passing. Although I hadn't seen Corky in quite some time, he was one of my favorite cousins! He will be missed. I have fond memories of Corky visiting us when we lived in Cincinnati. My condolences to all of the family. Love, Cousin Jill (Thornton) Blatchley.

Corky will be forever missed by those who knew him. We looked forward to his daily emails, that talked of day to day life across the miles that separated us all as if he was standing right next to you. I know my father will miss him and their banter, immensely. They'd known each other for closing in on 40 years, I believe, since my parents lived in Albuquerque. My love and prayers to you, his family, in the hopes that God will guide you along this unfamiliar and dimly lit path. Life is short. I'm thankful for the memories. Much love to you all. I remain, ginette goodwin greene Virginia

Please Lord heal our hearts and give us comfort in knowing he is at peace with you know and Sandy and others we loved so dear. In your name Jesus Amen

Corky was a wonderful man and ment so much to me. He always loved me for me and let me know I could do anything if I worked on it the best way I knew how. I will miss the bear hugs and his kind face smiling at me. He went the extra mile for others when he didn't have too. He share the love of music with my step dad and mom. He warmed my heart when he told me that if I ever needed love he was right there to give it to me and more. RIP my dear friend. I'll see you in Heaven someday. Thank you for all you did for me and others as well. Big hugs and comfort to his family. He was one of a kind of man.
