Charles Leonard Obituary

Charles Henry Leonard
01/17/1949 - 10/01/2022
Charles Henry Leonard was BOI on January 17, 1949 to Kelly and Patricia Leonard of Galveston, Texas, from a long line of Galvestonians, including his great grandfather, who was Galveston's mayor during the Civil War.
Chuck graduated Ball High School in 1967 where he was the best-looking cheerleader on the squad, going on to the University of Texas where he got into all sorts of mischief as a member of Sigma Nu. His best Sigma Nu friends, David Peden and Steve Potts continue their silence concerning the many antics which ensued during those college years.
His senior year was supposed to be devoted to dating as many cute girls as possible, but fate stepped in the first week of school when he met the love of his life, Sally Stotler. It was love at first sight for both of them, and many fun adventures followed, including their wedding on September 1, 1973 and 49 years of marriage.
Chuck spent the majority of his career as a Chief Financial Offer, primarily at Texas Eastern Products Pipeline. He was also a founding member of the board of Delek Industries. His time at both companies afforded Chuck the opportunity to make wonderful friends as well as travel all over the world.
Next to his career and love of family, Chuck devoted himself to GOLF! He was a long-time member of Lakeside County Club as well as Champions Golf Club, and spent many years as a volunteer marshal at Memorial Park Golf Course. He was fortunate to play many courses in five different countries, as well as all over the United States. Chuck would want to mention his favorite golf buddies, David Peden, Dave Condon, and Joel Staff.
Chuck is preceded in death by his parents, Kelly and Pat Leonard, and by his in-laws, Rosemary and Wayne Stotler - as well as Aunt Barbara Wooten, who all loved him like a son. He is survived by sister Patsy Leonard Herrington, brother-in-law, Richard Herrington and nephews Richard and Michael Herrington. Wife, Sally Stotler Leonard, son, William Secrest Leonard, granddaughter Charlotte and grandson, Nathan Leonard. Daughter Katie Leonard Forney, son-in-law Johnny Forney, and grandsons, Charlie and William Forney and granddaughter, Lucy Forney Also surviving Chuck is beloved sister-in-law, Mary Martha Stotler Staff and brother-in-law, Joel Staff. Not to be forgotten are his lovely and loving caretakers, Evelyn Posada, Isabel Villeda and Jasmine Prima De David.
A memorial service will be held at St. Luke's Methodist Church, 3471 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77027 at 10:30 in the morning on Friday, October 7 in the Sanctuary, with a reception directly following in the Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the First Tee Program of Greater Houston.

I'm just learning about Chuck's passing, and I'm so sad. Chuck and I were great friends throughout high school, and he came to the book launch party for my first book in 2018. We had a lot of fun times, and I will always think of him with a smile. My condolences to his family and other friends.

He was a very respectful and professional man whom smiled often. He gave me one of his office chairs to be used in my office, as I was (am still) secretary at my church. Both still there.

I just learned of Chuck's passing. I had the honor of working with him for a number of years while at Baker International. Chuck was very, very well liked as a person and was highly respected, professionally. He was known for always getting the job done, and quickly, regardless of its complexity. His leadership was known to all who worked with him.

I first met Chuck when Sally introduced us in the front yard of their house in our neighborhood in Rustling Pines. The way they still looked at each other after many years of marriage was unforgettable! I still believe that they had the happiest marriage of all time!

Really sad to hear of Chuck's passing. We worked together for ten years at TEPPCO Partners where Chuck was CEO. I'll remember Chuck as a hard working executive of tremendous integrity, who saw protecting TEPPCO's reputation as his top priority.
Sally, Susan and I are in California and unfortunately will miss the service. Wish we could be there. I know you two were devoted to each other and that Chuck will be missed. God Bless you.

God broke the mold when he made Chuck. He was a friend to all and everyone enjoyed being in his presence. Following retirement he played more rounds of golf each year than anyone I have ever known. I am confident that Carol Ansel has already greeted him in Heaven.
