Ram,
I can't believe it has been 8 years. Doesn't seem possible. Just wanted to tell ya that we think about you and talk about you often. Every time I see a hawk I say hello to you and Henry and now also to Randall and my two nephews who are no longer with us. Keep a watchful eye on us and keep us under your wings. We will keep the music playing loud the way you like it. Just wanted to tell you that you are always in our thoughts and prayers. Miss you and think of you often. Save me a seat at the table.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY RAMBO

Jim Laird

March 6, 2009

Ram,
It's that time of year again when I think of you and Hawk. Your birthdays are always a mixture of happiness and sadness. Happy I had the time with you and sad that it had to end so soon. You are in my thoughts and my prayers especially during your birthday week. I don't know how to get in touch with Jewels and Lillian but I sure would like to see Lillian. I'm sure she is quite the little lady by now. Can't believe how fast time flies. We have been out of our house since hurrincane Ike but should be back in by the end of March. We are building a wall of fame for our friends who are no longer with us and yours will be at the top. My cousin Randall passed away this past December so I'm sure the two of you are looking down on me and trading stories. Take care old friend. Will see you on the other side. I love you man and miss you everyday. Jim

April 21, 2008

I know I'm not the only one this happens to......
Everytime I hear a Harley, in that instant my head is turning to look, my mind automatically thinks "Rambo"
And for that short few moments my mind floods with memories of Rambo. And then there's a feeling of sadness. It never fails....it happens everytime.

Rambo,
I didn't get a chance to wish you Happy Birthday on your birthday. It's not that we didn't think about you, just wasn't around a computer at the time. I thought about you and Henry since your birthdays are back to back. I've been thinking about you quite a bit lately. Me, Mark, my son and his half brother are loading up this Thursday and heading to Fort Davis and Big Bend with our toy hauler for a weeks vacation. Sure wish you were here to go with us. The best vacation that I ever had was when we took our scooters to Colorado. You always said that was the best vacation anyone ever had and that we ought to make a movie about it. I talk to you often and think about you whenever we get out on the road. Take care old friend and watch over us on our journey. I know you are riding on my shoulder and clearing the road ahead of me so that I will have a smooth ride. I start myself crying sometimes when I think about the good times that we had and all of the good things that we didn't have time to do. I miss you man and guess I always will. I will talk you whenever I see a sunrise, a beautiful woman or a great game (how about them Rockets!!!!). Tell Hawk hello for me and keep looking down on us. Will always be your brother from another mother.

Tom, I only knew Rambo a short while before he passed. But he made such a tremendous and profound impact on my life, and so many others, that there's no way we will ever forget this man. He was a friend from the moment we met. And although the entries are slowing down, believe me, Rambo will always be in our hearts and in our thoughts. He knew how to be a good friend and always told his friends how much he loved them. Those are the memories we will keep, till we see him again. Be thankful we were lucky enough to have had him in our lives!

I just want to say thanks to everboby that keeps Rambos memories alive. I see the pictures and read what everybody writes and it makes me remember his face and his voice.
I've heard alot of stories and alot of names over the years from Ram and never met most of you.
I always wondered how he met so many people from so many places until one day we were at dinner and Ram was meeting people across the room and getting there phone # and address. If you told him to come visit he would be there.
I use to think it was weird that Ram would always kiss me on the cheek when we said good bye, but I really miss it.
I always get a laugh when I read what Ram wrote on the front of the CD's that he would gave me and my wife and he even made them for my son Tommy ,who was about 2 at the time.

Please keep writing and telling the funny stories about Ram.

Love you man

There's a photo inside of my wallet
I carry around with me,
It's one I'm so very proud of
I want the whole world to see.

The corners are bent and wrinkled
The colors are fading too,
But the beauty that lies upon it
Is the beauty that portraits you.

I must have taken it out
A million times or more,
Just to show you off
To all my friends and to brag
You're the one I adore.

Everytime my eyes explore it
My mind wanders back to you,
Then I think of all the good times
And the things we use to do.

When I put you back into my pocket
It's like I've tucked you away
In my heart, a place where you'll
Spend forever because eternally
We'll never part.

Although my wallet harbors no money
It holds riches worth more than gold,
It's a faded and wrinkled
Old picture of my Best Friend
I'll forever hold.

I Love You Charlie,

Well all day yesterday I knew there was something I should do. Today I remembered what it was. The day you were born was a special day to a whole lot of people. Their lives would simply NOT be the same without the touch you gave them. The love you gave them and also the hope of a brighter tomorrow. I knew you too little but even with that said you touched my life too, even way back then, (1970). Happy (belated) Birthday to you. I hope you're still keeping the angels in line up there. I hope we will meet again one day.

Rambo,
Yesterday was your day. We were talking about some of the Super Bowl parties you threw back in the day. Sure miss the big gatherings and the excitement your shindigs used to generate. It wasn't a great game, but it was still a game and you always loved your football. I can hear your laughter at some of the commercials they showed. A couple of them would have made you howl. I got a new scooter a couple of weeks ago and went on my first big run Saturday. About 20 of us went to a place called Ray's place up in Anahuac. Just a little hole in the wall but some of the best catfish in the world. Me, Mark and Randall(Cuz) were part of the group and we thought and talked about you often. Sure miss those days and the good times we had. It was cold as heck but I even got Brenda to go. Looks like she is going to enjoy it a whole lot more than she thought. She likes the ride but I think it is more about the accessories--jacket, chaps, new boots, headgear and so on. We just added every Harley shop to her list of places she likes to shop. Anyway, we talked about you and celebrated your life yesterday. I miss you.

"LOVE YA MAN"

January 22, 2006

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay. I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above. Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight. Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night. That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through, God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone. As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on. I need you here badly; you're part of my plan. There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do. And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you. And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight. God and I are closest to you...in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears. But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain. Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned. But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand. But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is over. I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb; but together we can do it by taking one day at a time. It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain, then you can say to God at night...."My day was not in vain." And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile, knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low, just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go. When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind; I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go...from that body to be free, remember you're not going...you're coming here to me.

I recently found out about Charles' death through an old High School friend. I went to Rayburn but I knew Becky and her sisters from our childhood growing up on Jessie Lane in Pasadena. I knew Charles from High School. He was in my English class. He was a big cutup and was always trying to make people laugh. He worked after school and almost never did his homework, yet he managed to make better grades than most in his class. He was witty and smart without even trying. The last time I saw him was at the 20 yr. reunion. He was still as handsome and funny as he was back in High School. Our 35 yr. reunion is this month. I'll miss not seeing him.

The one attribute that stands out in my mind about Charles was his uncanny ability to befriend total strangers. We could be standing in line at a theater or restaurant and before we were seated he would have made friends with everyone in line around us. He had a special gift that most people envy. And a heart as big as Texas. I remember going with him to Home Depot once and as we walked through the store several people passed us and said, "Hey Rambo, how's it going man?" It seemed as though everyone knew and loved him. If you were lucky enough to be his friend, well believe me, you felt special. There wern't many people he didn't care for. I can only recall one guy he didn't consider his friend. That's a pretty good track record, wouldn't you say?

Charles was a dear friend of mine. He was the most unselfish and I have to say one of the funniest guys I've ever known. He could make a room light up with just his presence and personality. Becky, I never had te pleasure of meeting you, but Charles spoke so fondly of you. He told stories of how you two met and how you found each other again later in life. I can not believe it has been a year since you have been gone. Me and Tom miss you so much and that sadness of missing you has not subsided. We think of you all the time and still have so many laughs about the memories we have of you. Just this past weekend we discovered something that you did last time you were over and I thought I was going to crack a rib from laughing so hard. You still crack us up Rambo - we just wish we could all crack up together again. We love you and miss you so very much.

THE BROKEN CHAIN

We little knew that morning,

God was going to call your name,

In life we loved you dearly,

In death we do the same.

It broke our hearts to loose you,

You did not go alone,

For part of us went with you,

The day God called you home.

You left us beautiful memories,

Your love is still our guide,

And though we cannot see you,

You are always by our side.

Our chain of friendship has been broken,

And nothing seems the same,

But as God calls us one by one,

The chain will link again.

Charles, Becky informed us of your death. We will miss you.

What can I say? I feel such a void in my life. I miss your robust laugh and your big big heart. You could always make me laugh, even when I was at my lowest. You were truly my dearest friend. I miss you everyday and will for the rest of my life. Wish I could hear you say just one more time: "Love Ya Man"

Charlie, I Love You, My Sweetheart, My Partner, & My Friend.

I'll always remember what you told me: "When you need me, just whisper my name in your heart......I will be there." Happy Birthday, Sweetheart (3-9-52) Thank-you for everything, but most of all, thank-you for the memories.

We miss you so much Rambo. It hurts even more because we can not even go to your house and be surrounded by the things that meant the most to you. We wanted somehow to give you one last gift and the only thing we could think of was to keep this guest book online forever so all the people that love you can write in it or read it anytime they want to. We love you Rambo and we miss you like crazy.

Words can not describe the vacancy we feel in our life right now. The only comfort we have is knowing that you are in God's Kingdom. We know for sure in our hearts you are with Him because over the last several months we were able to watch and hear you tell about the way God was touching your life. God had a plan to call you home because He felt you could help more people from above than you could here on earth. You have everlasting life Rambo because of the changes you recently made in your life. He could have taken you so many other times in your life, but isn't it strange that He chose a time when He knew your heart was right with Him. Thank you Rambo for being the way you were. We miss you dearly right now and our tears are selfish because we want you back here with us but we know you are happier where you are now. We miss you and we love you so much, and some day we will get the chance to meet again.

We love you man!
