Chini Lee Streitwieser, beloved sister and friend, died peacefully on Saturday, October 11, 2025, from complications of a stroke. She is survived by her sister Mary, and many dear friends. Born an Air Force Brat, she lived in many places including Japan and Puerto Rico. Chini was a pro at packing and moving. If Rule 1 was Chini was always right, then Rule 2 was Chini's spatial aptitude was always right.
After graduating from Rice University with a degree in history, Chini held several jobs. When Rice initiated a Master's in Accountancy, Chini was in the right place at the right time. She was immediately accepted into the program where she found her life's work. Her exceptional pattern recognition made Chini the consummate CPA. She enjoyed working on oil and gas, trusts, estates, and forensic accounting. A fiercely independent woman, Chini had many interests. She loved esoteric conversations, reading, writing, history, the arts and cats. Chini was always happy out in nature and particularly loved the beach and Texas bluebonnet season. She adored sharing Christmas- the decorations, family and food traditions, the music and The Revels. Chini was a deeply caring woman and was always willing to help anyone who needed it.
A small internment will be held by a beautiful abbey near the Shenandoah River.
A celebration of Chini's life will be held at a later, yet to be determined date, here in Houston. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Houston Methodist Neurology Research or Geriatric Research departments, or to a charity of your choice.
