I have many wonderful memories of Aunt Claire Ruth. The only train trip I have ever taken, was from Jacksonville, Texas to Houston with my mom, sister, and brother when I was young to visit Auntie. There were also many other visits during my childhood years. Auntie always took the time to make sure that we had a fun time, taking us to AstroWorld, Ringling Brothers, Barnum & Bailey Circus, shopping, and of course to Johnson Space Center. Not many kids growing up in J'ville had the opportunity to go to Houston and do these kinds of things. Auntie was there to help me plan for, and attend my 1981 wedding. When our son Landon was born with Spina Bifida in 1988, and again during his lengthy hospital stay in 1991, Auntie drove to Hermann Hospital EVERYDAY to sit with us and give us the support that we so needed. Every now and then my phone would ring on a stormy day, and it would be Auntie, (having seen Dayton's bad weather on the news) just checking on us. We would chat and giggle like two little girl friends on the phone and I would always hang up with a smile on my face. My eleven year old son Jared also loved to go see Auntie and has his on fond memories of her. I am VERY PROUD to have been named Claire after this special lady and I will truly miss her.
