Clemmie Johnson Obituary
EUBANKS JOHNSON
1917-2015
Dr. Clemmie E. Johnson passed away peacefully at home on May 27, 2015. She was the daughter of the late Rosa Lee Mitchell and William Poole. She was born November 24, 1917 in Jackson, Tennessee.
Her educational pursuits were extensive. They included attendance at Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana for undergraduate studies; Meharry Medical College where she obtained both a nursing degree (R.N.) and the M.D. degree. At Meharry she met and married her husband the late Dr.George W. Johnson, Sr. She then interned at the Harlem Hospital followed by a clinical year at The Tuskegee Institute. This was followed by a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Homer G. Phillips Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
Dr. Clemmie, as she was affectionately known by her patients, practiced in Houston for over 40 years. She practiced in the communities of Acres Home, Studewood-Heights, and the Third and Fifth Wards. She always placed her patients well-being first. She had an enthusiasm and compassion for her patients that was greatly recognized and appreciated. She gave of herself and countless resources to always help the less fortunate.
Dr. Clemmie is survived by three of her children, John B. Eubanks, Jr., Dr. George W. Johnson, Jr. (wife-Marie); Dr. JoAnne Turner (husband-Chap),; two grandchildren, Candace Johnson and Jeanette Pierre;and two great grandchildren, Jessiah and DeKotah. Preceeded in death were one daughter, Judith Ann Eubanks and grandchild, Andre Lewis.
Visitation will be from 11am to 12 noon and Memorial Services beginning at 12 noon, Friday June 5th at Pruitt's Mortuary, 7518 N. Main St., Houston, TX 77022. Interment will follow at the National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038.

Dr. Johnson was indeed a blessing to the Independence Heights community and the Carter family. She delivered some of my cousins, my brother, and myself. I loved her dearly because she would allow me to come to her house and play with her granddaughter for the summer. She would take us to Astroworld and we would have a ball! She will greatly be missed!

To Dr. Clemmie's children,
Your mom delivered my only brother and all four of my children. Just to be in her presence soothed and calmed my spirit. She was an angel of mercy, and I dearly loved her. Dr. Clemmie and Dr. George were truly compassionate and professional, and their dedication and commitment to the well-being of their patients will never be forgotten. May God continue to bless and keep you all.

My condolences to the Johnson Family. Dr. Clemmie brought my brothers and I into the world. She and my mom became friends. I was fortunate to spend some summers with her and family. My mom and I called every once in while to check in on her. We are deeply sadden by her passing.

A songwriter once wrote "may the works I've done speak for me". Surely much can be expressed through the works of Dr. Johnson.Let us all praise God for her life, loves, labors, and longevity.
I feel uniquely blessed to have met and visited with her in her home a few years ago. For she was the doctor that delivered me. Ms. Evelyn Lewis, her care giver helped me find her, and we had such a special time that day.
To the family, be encouraged in the knowledge that all is well. Sweet rest is her deserved reward. Take comfort in the anticipation of a sweet heavenly reunion someday.
