Conrad Sauer Obituary

Conrad Sauer Jr.
07/15/1928 - 12/31/2022
Conrad Louis "Fritz" Sauer Jr., 94 of Blanco, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2022.
Conrad Sauer Jr. was born on July 15, 1928 to Conrad Louis Sauer Sr. and Mary Helena Weiman Sauer in Houston, Texas. Conrad graduated from Lamar High School in Houston and later attended the University of Houston. Conrad was proud to be a 65 year Master Mason.
Conrad Sauer started his first job the day after high school graduation in 1945 at 17 years of age with the Humble Oil Company as a mailroom clerk. Through a series of promotions he became a purchasing agent for 37 years with the company now known as Exxon Mobil. After a brief retirement, he returned to Exxon Mobil to work in their Benefits department where he remained until March 2000. He ultimately put in over 45 years with Exxon Mobil.
In 1959 Fritz met the love of his life, Joan Frank. They celebrated 62 years of marriage in December, just weeks before his passing. Fritz and Joan have three children, Conrad "Chip" Louis Sauer III, Anthony Paul Sauer, and Anissa Kaye Sauer Torres.
While employed at Humble Oil Company, Conrad served overseas for the United States Army in 1950 during the Korean conflict.
Fritz was a dedicated husband, father, and Pappa. His zest for life and the people in it was immeasurable. He never met a stranger and counted a multitude of people as friends. His joyous nature was evident by the continuous smile on his face which led him to his second career as a clown. Conrad "Whistles" Sauer attended Clown College in 2000 and was a member of the Cheerful Clown Alley #166. Whistles spent his time volunteering at MD Anderson, community events, and church sharing his contagious love and joy for others.
After his retirement, Joan and Conrad settled in Blanco, Texas where they spent the last 22 years. They enjoyed a quiet hill country life while tending to the land and hosting everything from hummingbirds to turkeys to deer. They even had an extended visit from a peacock.
Conrad Sauer was preceded in death by his parents: Conrad Louis Sauer Sr. and Mary Helena Sauer, two brothers: Herman Sauer and Wayland Sauer, and one sister: Georgia Eschberger. He is survived by his loving wife: Joan Frank Sauer, three children and their spouses: Chip and Kim Sauer, Paul and Gretchen Sauer, and Anissa and Donny Torres, 10 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family is planning a celebration of life at a later date in which everyone is welcome. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to MD Anderson, where Conrad "Whistles" Sauer shared his smile and laughter with the patients.

The extended Sauer family are dear to my memories of life in Spring Branch and membership at St. Peter UCC. Fritz always greeted us with a smile and his generous heart was always evident. Thank you for the memories and the smiles! God bless you all!
