David McIntyre Obituary

DAVID D. McINTYRE A proud Texan whose roots reach to Stephen F Austin's original 300 colonists, David Dickson "Dick" McIntyre was the third generation born in the landmark "Buck Walker House," near Roans Prairie, Texas. Son of school teacher Alice Byrnes and store owner (and later district clerk) Eugene McIntyre, Dick led a picture-book youth of hunting, fishing and practical jokes. A natural salesman who loved people as much as they loved him, Dick graduated from Richards High School in a class of six, and went on to become Executive Vice President for Mortgage and Loans at American General Investment Corporation. Between his small town upbringing and his 46 year career as a mortgage banker, Dick married his high school sweetheart, Mary Uldene Harrison, graduated from Texas A&M, and served his country in both the US and Japan as a soldier in World War II. Dick and Uldene moved to Houston in 1946, where they raised two children and attended West University Baptist Church for 46 years. He served as a Sunday School teacher, a member of the Finance and Building Committees, and "The Singing Men." Dick and Uldene retired to College Station, and actively support his beloved Texas A&M. His enthusiasm infected four grandchildren who followed him to become Aggies. And his service to country inspired four to service in the military. David Dickson "Dick" McIntyre, 83, went to join his Lord on April 12th, 2004. He is survived by his son and his wife (Dave and Cathy McIntyre of College Station), his daughter and her husband (D'Layne and John Fargason of Yuma, Arizona), and five grandchildren: Captain Roy McIntyre (US Army), Robin Fargason (Austin, TX), Lieutenant Sam McIntyre (US Air Force), Susan Polo (married to Ensign Tony Polo, US Navy), and Cadet Mark Fargason (A&M Corps of Cadets). Family visitation will be at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan, Sunday April 18th from 5-7 PM. The funeral will take place at Hillier on Monday April 19th at 12:00 noon, followed immediately by interment at the College Station Cemetery. Donations in Dick's memory should be sent to "Sul Ross Group Corps Scholarship Fund, Texas A&M Foundation, 401 George Bush Drive, College Station, TX 77840."
