David Joseph Palmer, age 83, died on September 5, 2025, in Houston Texas, after a long and valiant battle with Alzheimer's Disease.
Born in Philadelphia PA on November 14, 1941, and raised in suburban Bucks County PA, David graduated from Dobbins Tech in Philadelphia in1959. Soon thereafter he enlisted in the US Army, attended an Army electronics school, and after his discharge from the Army embarked on a career in electronics engineering support. Beginning in 1976 in New Jersey with RCA Corporation, he subsequently moved to California with his family, wrapping up his career there with Teradyne.
In 2005, David and his wife Judi retired to their dream home in Sonora California, where he lived until he moved to Houston in 2024 to be near family as he fought Alzheimer's.
David's passions included travel, community service, running, and biking. He and Judi frequently embarked on international travels with Tauck Tours. Giving back, David served in Sonora as a senior citizens counselor and as an officer of SIRS, the Sons In Retirement, a men's social and service club.
Predeceased by his wife Judi, who passed away in 2018, David is survived by his four adult children from his first marriage: Sylvie Boos, Christine Carlsen, David Palmer, and Eric Palmer; by his brother Jonathan Palmer and sisters Joanne Strawhacker and Peggy Coulter; his six grandchildren Amanda Boos, Nick Jacobs, Christine Palmer, Tara Wilson, Jeff Sims and Michael Palmer, and by his nine great grandchildren Rylan Jacobs, Emett Jacobs, Adrian Bettencourt, Adan Bettencourt, Gianna Bettencourt, Adelaide Bettencourt, Natalie Martin, Hannah Martin, and Sophie Wilson.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday October 3 at 11:00AM in the Chapel of Saint John the Divine Episcopal Church, 2450 River Oaks Boulevard in Houston. In lieu of customary offerings, please make a contribution to your favorite charity in David's memory.
